2020 Lanka Premier League Final

During the group stage of the 2020 Lanka Premier League each team played eight matches, two against each of the other sides contesting the competition. The top four teams progressed to the playoff stage. Galle Gladiators concluded the league stage in fourth position with 4 points by winning two of their matches, losing six. Jaffna Stallions finished the league stage in third position with 9 points by winning four and losing three of their matches.

Galle Gladiators reached the final after defeating Colombo Kings by two wickets in the first semifinal. [7] Jaffna Stallions qualified for the final after trouncing Dambulla Viiking by 37 runs in the second semifinal. [8]

The Lanka Premier League is a professional cricket league in Sri Lanka in Twenty20 format contested every year by teams representing Sri Lankan cities from 2020. The 2020 Lanka Premier League also known as My11Circle LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. Five teams based on various Sri Lankan cities played a total of 23 matches. It was originally scheduled to start in August but was rescheduled several times due to restrictions for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Kandy Tuskers is a franchise cricket team which competed in inaugural season of Lanka Premier League in 2020. The team is based in Kandy, Central Province, Sri Lanka, and owned by Bollywood actor Sohail Khan. In the 2020 season, the team was under the captaincy of Kusal Perera and coached by Hashan Tillakaratne.

The Colombo Kings is a franchise Twenty20 cricket team based in Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka, that competed in the inaugural Lanka Premier League in 2020. The Galle Gladiators is a franchise cricket team which played in the inaugural season of the Lanka Premier League. The team is based in Galle, Southern Province, Sri Lanka. The team remained under the captaincy of Pakistani cricketer, Shahid Afridi, for the first three matches. However, due to an emergency, the captain left the league for the remaining matches of the tournament, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa assumed the captaincy. The team was coached by Pakistani cricket coach Moin Khan. The team is owned by Pakistani organizer Nadeem Omar, who also owns the Pakistan Super League's Quetta Gladiators.

For the 2020 season, the team was captained by Dasun Shanaka and coached by Owais Shah. Based in Dambulla, Central Province, Sri Lanka, the team is owned by Bollywood film actor and producer Sachiin J. Joshi. In the inaugural season, it changed its name from Dambulla Hawks to Dambulla Lions, and ten days later again changed its name to Dambulla Viiking.

It took place from 5 to 23 December 2021. There were plans to increase the number of teams from five to six, but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that five teams would take part, as per the first tournament.

The Galle Gladiators (GG) is the franchise cricket team based in Galle, Southern Province, Sri Lanka which has been playing in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) since the first edition of the tournament in 2020. In November 2021, the team changed their name to Colombo Stars after changing owners. The Jaffna Kings is a franchise cricket team which competes in 2021 Lanka Premier League (LPL). The team is based in Jaffna, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. In September 2021, Jaffna Stallions changed their name to Jaffna Kings having new owners. The team was captained by Thisara Perera and coached by Thilina Kandamby. They were defending champions having won LPL 2020. In the final, they beat Galle Gladiators by 23 runs to win their second successive LPL title.

It was a day/night twenty20 match between Galle Gladiators and Jaffna Kings, which decided the winner of 2021 season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), an annual franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. Jaffna Kings won the match by 23 runs beating Galle Gladiators, to win their second successive LPL title.

The 2022 Lanka Premier League is the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It was originally scheduled to take place from 31 July to 21 August 2022 with Sri Lanka Cricket initially having promised to conduct LPL tournament targeting the August window. The ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka were scrapped due to the hosting of this tournament. However, in July 2022, the tournament was postponed due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, with the aim to play it later in 2022. The tournament was later rescheduled to be held from 6 to 23 December 2022. The tournament also emphasizes to promote and boost both the economy and international tourism.
