Kandy Falcons (in 2022 and since 2024), formerly known as B-Love Kandy (2023), Kandy Warriors (2021), and Kandy Tuskers (2020), is a Sri Lankan franchise professional Twenty20 cricket team that competes in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), representing the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka which was founded in 2020. Chris Gayle signed up as the marquee overseas player and Kusal Perera as the local icon Player. [2] [3] In October 2021, the team changed their name to Kandy Warriors after changing owners. [4] They further changed their name to Kandy Falcons in 2022. [5]

In 2023, prior to the LPL auction, the franchise was bought by the B-Love network led by Omar Khan. [6]

2022 season

The team underwent three ownership and name changes in as many years. In the 2022 edition, the team signed Wanindu Hasaranga as part of the pre-draft signing. [7] Four West Indian players, Carlos Brathwaite, Fabian Allen, Oshane Thomas, and Andre Fletcher were drafted in for the franchise later. [8]

2024 season

Sri Lanka Cricket severed the contract with B-Love Kandy in May 2024 citing breaches of contractual obligations. The franchisee B-Love Network is a Dubai-based cryptocurrency business. [9] However, B-Love Kandy participated in the player auction two days later. [10]

Seekkuge Prasanna is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, who played limited overs cricket. He is a warrant officer in the Sri Lankan Army. Pinnaduwage Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, better known as Wanindu Hasaranga, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer and former T20I captain served as 13th captain in Sri Lanka Cricket. He resigned as the captain on 11th of July 2024. The reason for the resignation suggests due to his poor captaincy and performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. He plays for the Sri Lanka cricket team in white ball cricket as a Bowling All rounder. He is a Right-arm Googly bowler. Even though googly is a variation of a traditional Leg Spinner, Wanindu use googlies all the time rarely he bowls a Leg break, His main stock delivery is googly and he has a additional variation of Leg spin. Hasaranga made his international debut for Sri Lanka in July 2017. His elder brother, Chaturanga de Silva, has also represented the national team. Hasaranga made history when he took the first ever hat-trick for Sri Lanka in a T20 World Cup during the 2021 edition of the tournament, and being the first Sri Lankan on an ODI debut to take a hat-trick. He is regarded as one of the best bowlers in the T20 format

Pasqual Handi Kamindu Dilanka Mendis, popularly known as Kamindu Mendis, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the national team and for Colombo Cricket Club in domestic cricket. He is an ambidextrous bowler who has bowled both right and left-arm deliveries during the same over. He made his international debut for the Sri Lanka cricket team in October 2018.

The Lanka Premier League is a professional franchise cricket league established in 2020 in Sri Lanka. Matches are played using the Twenty20 cricket format by five teams named after Sri Lankan cities. The league was intended to commence in 2018, but repeatedly postponed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The inaugural edition took place in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 Lanka Premier League also known as My11Circle LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. Five teams based on various Sri Lankan cities played a total of 23 matches. It was originally scheduled to start in August but was rescheduled several times due to restrictions for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vijayakanth Viyaskanth is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm leg break bowler. He is a talented leg spinner, who plays for the Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League. He also plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League.

The 2021 Lanka Premier League also known as Wolf777 News LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It took place from 5 to 23 December 2021. There were plans to increase the number of teams from five to six, but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that five teams would take part, as per the first tournament.

Avishka Perera is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut on 10 March 2021, for Colts Cricket Club in the 2020–21 SLC Twenty20 Tournament. He made his List A debut on 30 March 2021, for Colts Cricket Club in the 2020–21 Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament. In April 2022, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) named him in the Sri Lanka Emerging Team's squad for their tour to England. In July 2022, he was signed by the Kandy Falcons for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League.

The 2024 Lanka Premier League was the fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), a Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. The league was organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket. The tournament began on 1 July and the final was played on 21 July 2024. Five franchise teams took part in a double round-robin league followed by a playoffs. Kandy Falcons, formerly known as B-Love Kandy, were the defending champions.
