The 2024 Lanka Premier League Final was played on 21 July 2024 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. [1] Galle Marvels qualified for the finals after their win in Qualifier 1. [2] They will competed with Jaffna Kings, who qualified for the finals after their winning in Qualifier 2. [3]
For the first time in Sri Lanka a lazer show involving 500 drones was shown to the spectators before the start of the match. [4] Jaffna Kings won the toss and elected to field first. Batting first Galle Marvels made 184 runs off 6 wickets in their 20 overs. In response, Jaffna Kings chased the target in 15.4 overs and won the match by 9 wickets. Thus, Jaffna Kings won their fourth LPL title. [5] Rilee Rossouw from Jaffna Kings was named as the player of the match as well as the player of the tournament.

The Lanka Premier League is a professional franchise cricket league established in 2020 in Sri Lanka. Matches are played using the Twenty20 cricket format by five teams named after Sri Lankan cities. The league was intended to commence in 2018, but repeatedly postponed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The inaugural edition took place in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2020 Lanka Premier League also known as My11Circle LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. Five teams based on various Sri Lankan cities played a total of 23 matches. It was originally scheduled to start in August but was rescheduled several times due to restrictions for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2020 Lanka Premier League Final was a Twenty20 cricket match played on 16 December 2020 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota, Sri Lanka between Galle Gladiators and Jaffna Stallions to ascertain the winner of 2020 Lanka Premier League. Jaffna Stallions won the match against Galle Gladiators by 53 runs to be the Champions of inaugural LPL.
The Kandy Tuskers is a franchise cricket team which competed in inaugural season of Lanka Premier League in 2020. The team is based in Kandy, Central Province, Sri Lanka, and owned by Bollywood actor Sohail Khan. In the 2020 season, the team was under the captaincy of Kusal Perera and coached by Hashan Tillakaratne.
The Galle Gladiators is a franchise cricket team which played in the inaugural season of the Lanka Premier League. The team is based in Galle, Southern Province, Sri Lanka. The team remained under the captaincy of Pakistani cricketer, Shahid Afridi, for the first three matches. However, due to an emergency, the captain left the league for the remaining matches of the tournament, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa assumed the captaincy. The team was coached by Pakistani cricket coach Moin Khan. The team is owned by Pakistani organizer Nadeem Omar, who also owns the Pakistan Super League's Quetta Gladiators.
The Jaffna Stallions is a franchise cricket team which competed in inaugural season of Lanka Premier League (LPL). For the 2020 season, the team was captained by Thisara Perera and coached by Thilina Kandamby. The team qualified for the semi-finals after winning 4 out of 8 matches. However, the team had the highest run rate of all teams. They qualified for the final by defeating Dambulla Viiking in the semi-final. The team won the final by defeating the Galle Gladiators.
The 2021 Lanka Premier League also known as Wolf777 News LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It took place from 5 to 23 December 2021. There were plans to increase the number of teams from five to six, but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that five teams would take part, as per the first tournament.
The Galle Gladiators (GG) is the franchise cricket team based in Galle, Southern Province, Sri Lanka which has been playing in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) since the first edition of the tournament in 2020. They were one of the five teams to compete in the 2021 Lanka Premier League. The team was captained by Bhanuka Rajapaksa and coached by Umar Gul.

The Colombo Stars is a franchise cricket team which competes in 2021 Lanka Premier League. The team is based in Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka. In November 2021, the team changed their name to Colombo Stars after changing owners. The team was captained by Dhananjaya de Silva for few initial games as an acting captain until Angelo Mathews recover and coached by Ruwan Kalpage.
The Dambulla Giants (DG) is a franchise cricket team that competes in 2021 Lanka Premier League. The team is based in Dambulla, Central Province, Sri Lanka. In September 2021, Dambulla Viiking changed their name to Dambulla Giants after having new owners. The team was captained by Dasun Shanaka and coached by Stuart Law.
The Jaffna Kings is a franchise cricket team which competes in 2021 Lanka Premier League (LPL). The team is based in Jaffna, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. In September 2021, Jaffna Stallions changed their name to Jaffna Kings having new owners. The team was captained by Thisara Perera and coached by Thilina Kandamby. They were defending champions having won LPL 2020. In the final, they beat Galle Gladiators by 23 runs to win their second successive LPL title.

The 2022 Lanka Premier League also known as Mazaplay LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It was originally scheduled to take place from 31 July to 21 August 2022 with Sri Lanka Cricket initially having promised to conduct LPL tournament targeting the August window. The ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka were scrapped due to the hosting of this tournament. However, in July 2022, the tournament was postponed due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, with the aim to play it later in 2022. The tournament was later rescheduled and held from 6 to 23 December 2022. The tournament also emphasized to promote and boost both the economy and international tourism.

The tournament began on 1 July and the final was played on 21 July 2024. Five franchise teams took part in a double round-robin league followed by a playoffs. Kandy Falcons, formerly known as B-Love Kandy, were the defending champions.
