The Eagles are coached by former Olympic gold medallist Katie King-Crowley and play their home games at Conte Forum. They have won the Hockey East championship three times, and made seven trips to the Frozen Four of the NCAA tournament.

The Vermont Catamounts women's ice hockey program represents the University of Vermont. The Catamounts compete in Hockey East. Their first year of varsity women's hockey was in 1998–99. The Catamounts were in the ECAC at the Division III level of competition. In 2001–02, the Catamounts moved up to Division I. For the 2005–06 season, the Catamounts moved to Hockey East.

Penn State Nittany Lions women's ice hockey is a college ice hockey program that has represented Penn State University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and College Hockey America (CHA) since the 2012–13 season. The program was preceded by a club team that competed at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 level, primarily as a member of Eastern Collegiate Women's Hockey League (ECWHL). Penn State plays its home games at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pennsylvania.

Christine Bestland is a Canadian ice hockey player in the Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program. Prior to Mercyurst, Bestland was involved with Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence.

Alina Müller is a Swiss ice hockey forward for the Northeastern Huskies and the Switzerland women's national ice hockey team. At the age of 15, she became the youngest ice hockey player ever to win an Olympic medal, scoring the game-winning goal for Switzerland in the bronze medal game at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 2016–17 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season began in September 2016 and ended with the 2017 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey tournament's championship game on 19 March 2017.

Daryl Watts is a Canadian women's ice hockey player for the Toronto Six of the Premier Hockey Federation. She previously played in the NCAA, two seasons each for the Boston College Eagles and the Wisconsin Badgers. Watts was awarded the 21st Patty Kazmaier Award, becoming the first freshman player to win the award. Watts finished the season with 82 points, which led all competitors in NCAA women's ice hockey.

The 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season began in September 2018 and ended with the 2019 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey tournament's championship game on March 24, 2019.

The 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season is the 19th season of competition in the National Collegiate division of NCAA women's ice hockey, the de facto equivalent of Division I in that sport. The season began in September 2019 and ended on March 10, 2020 following the conclusion of the ECAC Championship. The 2020 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey tournament at Agganis Arena in Boston which was supposed to be held March 20 and 22 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season began in November 2020 and ended with the 2021 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament's championship game at Erie Insurance Arena in Erie, Pennsylvania on March 20, 2021.

Aerin Frankel is an American ice hockey goaltender as a member of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) and the United States women's national ice hockey team. She was one of the best goaltenders in women's NCAA history and is a highly promising prospect for the American national team. She won the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2021. She is a two-time recipient of the WHCA National Goalie of the Year award and was the inaugural winner in 2021. In 2023, Frankel won gold with the United States women's national ice hockey team at the 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship in Brampton, Ontario.

The Wisconsin Badgers represented the University of Wisconsin in WCHA women's ice hockey during the 2020-21 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. In the WCHA Final Faceoff championship game, the Badgers defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes by a 3–2 mark in overtime, as Lacey Eden scored the game-winning goal. Appearing in the 2021 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament versus the Northeastern Huskies, Daryl Watts scored the game-winning goal in a –1 overtime win.

The Northeastern Huskies represented Northeastern University in the Women's Hockey East Association during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. In addition to capturing the regular season title, the Huskies defeated the Providence Friars by a 6–2 mark to win the Hockey East postseason tournament.

The Boston College Eagles represented Boston College in Women's Hockey East Association play during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The program qualified for the 2021 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament, ranking as the #6 seed. On January 31, 2021, it marked the 500th game together at BC for head coach Katie Crowley and associate head coach Courtney Kennedy.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2020–21 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs women's ice hockey season</span>

The Bulldogs qualified for the 2021 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament, ranked as the #5 seed. Defeating the Colgate Raiders in the opening round, the Bulldogs were defeated 3-2 by the #1 ranked Northeastern Huskies in the Frozen Four.

The Cornell Big Red represented Cornell University in ECAC women's ice hockey during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. Hosting the 2020 ECAC tournament championship game, the Big Red lost to the visiting Princeton Tigers by a 3-2 mark in overtime. Qualifying for the 2020 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament, the Big Red were scheduled to face off against the Mercyhurst Lakers in the opening round, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vermont Catamounts women's ice hockey program represented the University of Vermont in the Women's Hockey East Association during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season.

The 2022–23 Penn State Nittany Lions women's ice hockey season will represent Pennsylvania State University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season.

Kiara Zanon is an American ice hockey player for Penn State and member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. She was named the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association National Rookie of the Year in 2022.
