Group A of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 9 to 17 January 2022. The group consisted of Burkina Faso, hosts Cameroon, Cape Verde and Ethiopia. [1]

Contents

Cameroon and Burkina Faso as the top two teams, along with Cape Verde as one of the four best third-placed teams, advanced to the round of 16.

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, known as the TotalEnergies2021 Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, was the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international men's football championship of Africa organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The tournament was hosted by Cameroon, and took place from 9 January to 6 February 2022.

Paul Biya Omnisports Stadium, referred to as the Olembe Stadium and Sport Complex , is a multi-purpose stadium spanning 84 acres in Olembé locality, Yaoundé. It is the largest stadium in Cameroon by capacity, holding 60,000 spectators, and is the 9th-largest stadium in Africa by the same measure. Located roughly 13 km from Yaoundé city-centre, the stadium is part of a complex which includes two annex stadia training grounds; a gymnasium with handball, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts; an Olympic-size swimming pool; a shopping mall, museum and cinema; and 5-star hotel with 70 rooms available.

Group B of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations was played from 15 to 23 January 2017 in Gabon. The group consisted of Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal and Zimbabwe.

Group A of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations was played from 14 to 22 January 2017 in Gabon. The group consisted of hosts Gabon, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Guinea-Bissau.

It began on 5 July with the round of 16 and ended on 19 July 2019 with the final, held at the Cairo International Stadium in Cairo. A total of 16 teams advanced to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination style tournament.

Ethiopia was formerly one of Africa's major forces, and played in every Africa Cup of Nations until the end of 1960s. Ethiopia themselves also won an AFCON tournament, the 1962 edition, when they were the hosts. Since then, success has started to fade from Ethiopia's football and after 1982, Ethiopia would have to wait until 2013, when the country qualified for the final tournament after a 31-year absence.

Group B of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 10 to 18 January 2022. The group consisted of Guinea, Malawi, Senegal and Zimbabwe.

Group C of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 10 to 18 January 2022. The group consisted of debutants Comoros, Gabon, Ghana and Morocco.

Group D of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 11 to 19 January 2022. The group consisted of Egypt, Guinea-Bissau, Nigeria and Sudan.

Group E of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 11 to 20 January 2022. The group consisted of defending champions Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, the Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone.

Group A of the 2022 African Nations Championship, consisting of hosts Algeria, Libya, Ethiopia and Mozambique, began on 13 January and will end on 21 January 2023.

Group B of the 2022 African Nations Championship, consisting of DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Uganda, began on 14 January and will end on 24 January 2023.

Group D of the 2022 African Nations Championship, consisting of Mali, Angola and Mauritania, began on 16 January and will end on 24 January 2023.

Comoros participated in the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in the 2021 edition in Cameroon.
