Group F of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 12 to 20 January 2022. The group consisted of debutants the Gambia, as well as Mali, Mauritania and Tunisia. [1]

Contents

Mali and Gambia as the top two teams, along with Tunisia as one of the four best third-placed teams, advanced to the round of 16.

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, known as the TotalEnergies2021 Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, was the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international men's football championship of Africa organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The knockout stage of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations was the second and final stage of the competition, following the group stage. It began on 5 July with the round of 16 and ended on 19 July 2019 with the final, held at the Cairo International Stadium in Cairo. A total of 16 teams advanced to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination style tournament.

The Algerian team in its 57th year will participate in the Africa Cup of Nations for the 18th and fourth consecutive time.

Group A of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 9 to 17 January 2022. The group consisted of Burkina Faso, hosts Cameroon, Cape Verde and Ethiopia.

Group B of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations took place from 10 to 18 January 2022. The group consisted of Guinea, Malawi, Senegal and Zimbabwe.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations</span> Participation of Tunisia in a competition

Tunisia have participated in the Africa Cup of Nations 21 times, and hold the record for the highest number of consecutive participations, with sixteen between 1994 and 2023. Tunisia's first AFCON appearance was in 1962, where they took third place by defeating Uganda 3–0; only four countries participated in this edition. In the 1965 edition, Tunisia were allowed to host the competition and reached the final, losing to Ghana 2–3 after extra time.

The knockout stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations was the second and final stage of the competition, following the group stage. It began on 23 January with the round of 16 and ended on 6 February 2022 with the final held at the Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé. A total of 16 teams advanced to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination style tournament.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gambia at the Africa Cup of Nations</span> Gambia participating at football tournament

Gambia joined the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations as the lowest-ranked team of the tournament as well as the lowest-ranked team ever to participate in AFCON. They debuted with a 1–0 win over Mauritania followed by a 1–1 draw to Mali. Gambia qualified for the round of 16 with a game to spare and on 20 January defeated Tunisia 1–0 in their final group match. They finished with the same points as Mali, which, however, won the group due to a better overall goal difference.

Group B of the 2022 African Nations Championship, consisting of DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Uganda, began on 14 January and will end on 24 January 2023.

Group D of the 2022 African Nations Championship, consisting of Mali, Angola and Mauritania, began on 16 January and will end on 24 January 2023.

Comoros participated in the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in the 2021 edition in Cameroon.
