The 2021 ICC Awards were the seventeenth edition of ICC Awards. The nominations took into account players' performance between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021. The announcement of the ICC World XI Teams were made on 19 and 20 January 2022. [1] The women's awards were announced on 23 January 2022. [2] The winners of the men's individual ICC awards and ICC Umpire of the year award were announced on 24 January 2022, [3] with the Spirit of cricket award was announced on 2 February 2022. [4]

Selection Committee

The nominees were shortlisted by the Awards panel, comprising prominent cricket journalists and broadcasters from across the globe along with Geoff Allardice, the ICC's CEO. [1] The Voting Academy, comprising a wider selection of global cricket journalists and broadcasters, voted for their first, second and third choices for each category. [3] The ICC also took into consideration fans’ votes via ICC's digital channels. The result of the Voting Academy selections and the fans’ vote were combined to determine the winner in each of the first seven categories. [14]

Paul Robert Stirling is an Irish cricketer. Stirling is the opening batsman for the Ireland cricket team and an occasional right-arm, off-break bowler. He is one of the top 10 run scorers in T20 internationals. He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match, against Pakistan, in May 2018. He was appointed as the vice-captain of the Ireland team in June 2020. He subsequently served as interim captain of Ireland in the T20I and ODI format following the resignation of Andrew Balbirnie, before being appointed as permanent limited-overs captain in October 2023.

Dané van Niekerk is a South African cricketer born in Pretoria and educated at Hoërskool Centurion. A right-handed batter and leg break bowler, she played for South Africa in Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODI) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) between 2009 and 2021, and was captain of the side between 2016 and 2021. She was the first bowler for South Africa to take 100 wickets in WODIs.

Harry Tom Tector is an Irish professional cricketer. He was part of Ireland's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his full international debut for the Ireland cricket team in September 2019. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis.

The announcement of the ICC World XI Teams, along with the winners of the men's individual ICC awards, was made on 18 January 2018. The women's awards were announced on 21 December 2017, with Ellyse Perry winning the inaugural Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award as the Women's Cricketer of the Year.

The 2014 ICC Awards followed the same formal event which was implemented in 2013 as a TV show. The voting panel took into account players' performance between 26 August 2013 and 17 September 2014. The show was broadcast globally on 15–16 November. The ICC awards the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy to the Cricketer of the Year, which is considered to be the most prestigious award in world cricket.

The 2018 ICC Awards were the fifteenth edition of the ICC Awards. The voting panel took into account players' performance between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018. The announcement of the ICC World XI Teams, along with the winners of the men's individual ICC awards, was made on 22 January 2019. The women's awards were announced on 31 December 2018, with Smriti Mandhana winning the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award as the Women's Cricketer of the Year. Virat Kohli became the first cricketer in history to win all three major awards.

The ICC Awards of the Decade is a one-off edition of the ICC Awards annual awards programme, aimed at celebrating the stand-out performers and moments from the past ten years of international cricket. An Awards Nominations Committee, comprising prominent cricket journalists and broadcasters from across the globe and the ICC General Manager – Cricket, have determined a shortlist of nominees for each category. For the first time the fans’ voice will be heard in selecting the winners across categories including the Sir Garfield Sobers and Rachael Heyhoe Flint Awards, which celebrate the best overall player from the men's and women's game over the past decade. The fan vote will make up 10% of the voting, while votes from an expert panel will make up the remaining 90%. The voting panel took into account players' performance between 1 January 2011 and 7 October 2020. The announcement of the ICC World XI Teams, along with the winners of the individual ICC awards, was made on 27 December, 2020. Virat Kohli won Men's Cricketer of the Decade while Ellyse Perry was named as Women's Cricket of the Decade.

The ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year is an annual award, established in 2021 by the International Cricket Council to the best Twenty20 International player over the year in question. It is one of the annual ICC Awards. It has succeeded former Twenty20 International Performance of the Year Award, which was awarded to a player based on a single match performance.

The ICC Men's Emerging Cricketer of the Year is an annual award presented since 2004 by the International Cricket Council to the best young cricketer. It is one of the annual ICC Awards.
