Romain Arneodo is a French-born Monegasque professional tennis player who specializes in doubles. From 2008 to 2013, Arneodo represented France in international competition, but has since represented Monaco. Arneodo has been ranked by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) as high as world No. 51 in doubles, which he achieved in May 2023. He also has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 455, attained in August 2014. Since turning professional, Arneodo has won one ATP doubles title as well as twelve doubles titles on the ATP Challenger Tour and one singles and 20 doubles titles on the ITF Men's World Tennis Tour.

Andre Begemann and Daniel Masur were the defending champions but chose to defend their title with different partners. Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić defeated Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the final, 6–4, 7–6(7–5), 2–6, 7–5 to win the gentlemen's doubles title at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. It was their eighth title of the season, with Mektić winning his maiden major doubles title and Pavić winning his third. They became the first Croatian pair to win the title.

The 2021 Open International de Tennis de Roanne was a professional tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the first edition of the tournament which was part of the 2021 ATP Challenger Tour. It took place in Roanne, France between 8 and 14 November 2021.

Denys Molchanov and Andrey Rublev defeated Raven Klaasen and Ben McLachlan in the final, 4–6, 7–5, [10–7] to win the doubles tennis title at the 2022 Open 13 Provence. Rublev completed a double crown, having won the singles title earlier in the day.

Feliciano López and Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Marcelo Arévalo and Jean-Julien Rojer in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the doubles title at the 2022 Mexican Open.

Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini defeated Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliövaara in the final, 5–7, 7–6(8–6), [10–7] to win the doubles tennis title at the 2022 Croatia Open Umag. The Italians saved six match points in the second-set tie-break from 0–6 down.

Sriram Balaji and Ramkumar Ramanathan were the defending champions but chose not to defend their title.

Defending champion Jan Zieliński and his partner Hugo Nys defeated Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliövaara in the final, 7–6(7–5), 6–4 to win the doubles tennis title at the 2022 Moselle Open.

The pair saved two championship points en route to the title and earned Dodig his sixth ATP Masters 1000 title, Krajicek his first, and the duo their fifth career title together. Arneodo was contending to become the first Monegasque champion of the tournament in the Open Era.
