The 2021 BAL season was the 1st season for the Rivers Hoopers of the Basketball Africa League. The team began the season on May 16, 2021, in the season opener against Rwanda's Patriots BBC.

Contents

Coming off a third Nigerian Premier League, the team of Ogoh Odaudu qualified for the inaugural BAL season. Ahead of the season, the Hoopers signed Ben Uzoh, [1] along with the American duo Chris Daniels and Taren Sullivan. [2] They also signed ex-NBA champion Festus Ezeli. [3] However, Ezeli got injured and had to miss the season. He was later replaced by Robinson Opong.

The Hoopers were allocated in Group A, but were unable to advance to the playoffs with their 1–2 record.

Ezeli played college basketball at Vanderbilt before being selected with the 30th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors, where he won an NBA Championship in 2015. The playoffs were played in the BK Arena in Kigali, which hosted the final stage for a third season in a row. The regular season was played in Dakar, Senegal and Cairo, Egypt, both venues hosted a conference for a second year in a row.

Evans Ganapamo is a French-Central African professional basketball player for Bangui Sporting Club. He played college basketball at the University of New Orleans and Prairie View A&M University. Internationally, Ganapamo represents the Central African Republic national team.

The 2024 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 4, will be the 4th season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season began on 9 March 2024 and will finish with the final on 1 June 2024, which will be played in the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda for a fourth consecutive season.
