The 2022 IIHF Women's U18 World Championship was the 14th Women's U18 World Championship in ice hockey.
On December 24, 2021, the tournament was cancelled for the second year in a row by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [1] However, on March 21, 2022, the IIHF announced it had reconsidered and rescheduled the Top Division tournament for June 6–13, 2022 in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. [2]
The venues which hosted the event in Dane County, Wisconsin were LaBahn Arena, located on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison and Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, home of the USHL's Madison Capitols.

The 2016 IIHF Women's U18 World Championship was the ninth Women's U18 World Championship in ice hockey. The tournament was played in St. Catharines, Canada.
The 2016 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships were the 18th such series of tournaments organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Teams participated at several levels of competition. These tournaments also served as qualifications for the 2017 competition and finalized seeding for the 2018 Winter Olympics qualification.
The 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship Division II was three international ice hockey tournaments organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Division II Group A tournament was played in Bled, Slovenia, from 2 to 8 April 2016, the Division II Group B tournament was played in Jaca, Spain, from 29 February to 6 March 2016, and the Division II Group B Qualification tournament was played in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 7 to 10 December 2015.

The Division I A and Division I B tournaments represent the second and the third tier of the IIHF World U18 Championship. The 2020 Ice Hockey World Junior Championships was the 44th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It began on December 26, 2019, and ended with the gold medal game being played on January 5, 2020. Canada defeated Russia 4–3 to win the gold medal and their 18th world junior hockey championship. This marks the fourth time that the Czech Republic hosted the WJHC.
Qualification for the women's tournament at the 2022 Winter Olympics was determined by the IIHF World Ranking following the 2020 Women's Ice Hockey World Championships. The host along with the top six teams in the world ranking received automatic berths into the Olympics, while all other teams had an opportunity to qualify for the remaining three spots in the Olympics.

The 2022 IIHF World U18 Championship was the 23rd such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Teams participated at several levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for the 2023 competition. On 28 February the IIHF "suspended all Russian and Belarusian National Teams and Clubs from participation in every age category and in all IIHF competitions or events until further notice", which resulted in a reformatting of the tournament. Due to the suspensions there are two open spots in the top division, two teams can be promoted for 2023 and no team will be relegated. Additionally, all eight teams will qualify for the QF round and will be reseeded according to their tournament ranking.

The tournament represented the fourth tier of competition at the 2022 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship. The tournament was played on the two ice rinks at the Zeytinburnu Buz Adası in the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul, Turkey. Originally scheduled to be held from 21 to 27 January 2022, it was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was played from 27 June to 5 July 2022.
