Ice hockey at the 2013 Winter Universiade was held from December 10 through December 21 at the Municipal Ice Arena in Cavalese and Gianmario Scola Ice Hockey Arena in Val di Fassa (men's matches) and Ice Stadium in Pergine Valsugana (women's matches). The selection of participating teams - 12 in the men's tournament (including hosting Italy) and six in the women's tournament - was announced on July 31, 2013 [1] while the draw to place the teams into their assigned pools took place on September 28, 2013. [2]

Preliminary round

Twelve participating teams were placed in the following three groups. After playing a round-robin, the top two teams in each group, plus the top two third-place teams, advanced to the quarterfinals.

Teams received 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime/shootout win and 1 point for an overtime/shootout loss. Teams received 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime/shootout win and 1 point for an overtime/shootout loss. They were seeded for the playoffs based first on placement within their pool, then by point total, then by fewest goals against, then by goal differential.

The Division I tournament was played in Ventspils, Latvia, at the Ice Hall of the Ventspils Olimpiskais Centrs from 10 to 16 March 2008. The men's tournament in ice hockey at the 2010 Winter Olympics was held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, from February 16–28, 2010. Games were hosted at two venues – Canada Hockey Place and UBC Thunderbird Arena. These Olympics were the first to take place in a city with a National Hockey League team since the NHL players were introduced in 1998, which meant players on the Vancouver Canucks who were competing in the Olympics were playing in their home arena: Roberto Luongo for Canada, Ryan Kesler for the United States, Pavol Demitra for Slovakia, Sami Salo for Finland, Christian Ehrhoff for Germany, and Daniel and Henrik Sedin for Sweden.

The 2014 IIHF World Championship was hosted by Belarus in its capital, Minsk, held from 9 to 25 May 2014. Sixteen national teams were competing in two venues, the Minsk-Arena and Chizhovka-Arena. It was the first time Belarus hosted the tournament. The 2010–11 GET-ligaen is the 72nd season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, Eliteserien. The regular season began on 18 September 2010 and is scheduled to end on 27 February 2011.

Ice hockey at the 2011 Winter Universiade was held from January 27 through February 6 at the Erzurum GSIM Ice Arena complex in Erzurum, generally called "3000 Ice Rink" and "500 Ice Rink" during Universiade in reference to the seating capacities of its two sheets of ice. In most cases, men's matches were played at 3000 Ice Rink and women's matches were played at 500 Ice Rink, although exceptions were made for the women's semifinals and medal games played in the larger rink, while some lower men's placement games were played in the smaller one. The selection of participating teams – 12 in the men's tournament and six in the women's tournament, including the hosting Turkey sides in both cases – was announced on August 27, 2010, while the draw to place the teams into their assigned pools took place on October 2, 2010.

The 2011 MLP Nations Cup was a women's ice hockey tournament that featured five countries' national teams in addition to Canada, who played with their national under-22 team. Canada has defended the title which they won in 2010. All games were contested at the Bodensee Arena in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2012 IIHF Women's World Championship</span> International ice hockey tournament

The 2012 IIHF World Women's Championships was the 14th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation and took place in Vermont, United States, at the Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, and the Cairns Arena in South Burlington. The competition also served as qualifications for the 2013 competition, and the 2014 Olympics. The Top Division was contested between eight teams from April 7 to April 14, 2012, in Burlington and was hosted by USA Hockey.

The 2012 European Trophy was the third European Trophy, a European ice hockey tournament held annually. It is also the seventh tournament since its predecessor, the Nordic Trophy, was launched in 2006. The regulation round started on 31 July 2012 with the South Division game between Piráti Chomutov–Slovan Bratislava, and will end on 28 November 2012. The playoffs will be played between 13 and 16 December 2012 in Vienna and in Bratislava. The preliminary schedule for the regulation round was released on 12 April 2012.

Ice hockey at the 2015 Winter Universiade was held from February 3 through February 14 at the Granada Sport Palace and the nearby Mulhacen Pavilion in Granada. In most cases, men's matches were played at the Granada Sport Palace and women's matches were played at the Mulhacen Pavilion, although exceptions were made for the women's semifinals and medal games played in the larger Granada Sport Palace, while some lower men's placement games and one quarterfinal were played at the Mulhacen Pavilion. The draw to place the teams - 11 in the men's tournament and seven in the women's tournament, including the hosting Spain sides in both cases - into their assigned pools took place on September 25, 2014.

The 1980–81 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began in October 1980 and concluded with the 1981 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament's championship game on March 28, 1981 at the Duluth Arena in Duluth, Minnesota. This was the 34th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held and is the 87th year overall where an NCAA school fielded a team.

The 1975–76 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began in October 1975 and concluded with the 1976 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament's championship game on March 27, 1976 at the University of Denver Arena in Denver, Colorado. This was the 29th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held and is the 82nd year overall where an NCAA school fielded a team.

The 1974–75 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began in October 1974 and concluded with the 1975 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament's championship game on March 15, 1975, at the St. Louis Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. This was the 28th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held and is the 81st year overall where an NCAA school fielded a team.

Ice hockey at the 2017 Winter Universiade comprised two ice hockey tournaments – a men's tournament and a women's tournament – during the Almaty 2017 edition of the Universiade. The men's tournament was held from January 28 through February 8 at Halyk Arena and the women's tournament was held from January 28 to February 6 at Baluan Sholak Sports Palace.

The 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship was an international Ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. It was contested in Espoo, Finland from 4 to 14 April 2019 at the Espoo Metro Areena.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ice hockey at the 2022 Winter Olympics – Women's tournament</span>

The women's tournament in ice hockey at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held in Beijing, China between 3 and 17 February 2022. Ten countries qualified for the tournament; six of them did so automatically by virtue of their ranking by the International Ice Hockey Federation, one, China, automatically qualified as hosts, while the three others took part in a qualification tournament.

Ice hockey at the 2022 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival comprised two ice hockey tournaments in the under-17 competition class – a boys' tournament and a girls' tournament – during the Vuokatti 2022 edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). The boys' tournament was held from 13 to 17 December 2021 and, following the postponement of the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the girls' tournament was played from 21 to 25 March 2022. Both tournaments were played at the Kajaanin jäähalli in Kajaani, Finland. The girls' tournament marked the first time women's ice hockey was included in the programme of a European Youth Olympic Festival.
