The 2023 season was Sunrisers' fourth season, in which competed in the 50 over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the Twenty20 Charlotte Edwards Cup. In the Charlotte Edwards Cup, the side finished bottom of the group, losing all of their seven matches. [2] In the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, the side finished fourth, winning six of their fourteen matches, their first wins in the history of the competition. [3] [4]
Sunrisers had three club captains throughout the season: from April to June, the side was captained by Kelly Castle, until she was replaced by Dane van Niekerk. [5] When van Niekerk's overseas stint with the side ended, Grace Scrivens took over the captaincy for the side's fixtures in September. [6] The side was coached by Andy Tennant for his first year in the role, having taken over from interim head coach Laura Marsh. [7] They played five home matches at the County Ground, Chelmsford, two apiece at the County Ground, Northampton and Brunton Memorial Ground, and one at Lord's. [8] [9]
On 4 November 2022, it was announced that Naomi Dattani had left the side, joining North West Thunder. [10] Ahead of the 2023 season, it was confirmed that Gayatri Gole and Sonali Patel had left the side. [11]
On 4 November 2022, it was announced that Sunrisers had signed Eva Gray from South East Stars. [12] On 22 March 2023, it was announced that Sunrisers had signed Saskia Horley as an overseas player for the first five rounds of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. [1] On 24 March 2023, it was announced that Sunrisers had signed Dane van Niekerk as an overseas player, to play for the side between the start of the Charlotte Edwards Cup and the end of July. [13] On 6 June 2023, it was announced that Esmae MacGregor had been promoted from the academy to the senior squad. [14] On 1 July 2023, it was announced that Amuruthaa Surenkumar had signed her first senior contract with the side. [15] On 4 September 2023, the side announced the signing of Ariana Dowse. [16]
On 28 September 2022, it was announced that Andy Tennant had been appointed as the head coach of the side, replacing Laura Marsh, who had coached on an interim basis for much of the previous season. [7] On 4 November 2022, it was announced that Abtaha Maqsood had been signed on a professional contract, having previously been signed on a half-season deal in 2022. [17] On 2 February 2023, Sunrisers announced a further two players who had been awarded professional contracts with the side, with Jodi Grewcock and Florence Miller both signing their first such contracts. [18] On 7 June 2023, it was announced that Kelly Castle had stepped down as captain of the side, being replaced by Dane van Niekerk. [5] On 4 September 2023, it was announced that Grace Scrivens was taking over the captaincy of the side, following the end of van Niekerk's stint as an overseas player. [6]

The 2021 season was North West Thunder's second season, in which they competed in the 50 over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the new Twenty20 competition, the Charlotte Edwards Cup. The side finished seventh in the group stage of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, winning three of their seven matches. In the Charlotte Edwards Cup, the side finished third in Group B, winning two of their six matches, with one ending in a tie.
The 2021 season was Sunrisers' second season, in which they competed in the 50 over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the new Twenty20 competition, the Charlotte Edwards Cup. The side finished bottom of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy group stage, losing all seven of their matches. The side recorded their first ever win in their opening match of the Charlotte Edwards Cup, beating Western Storm, but did not win any further matches, finishing bottom of Group B.
The 2022 season was Central Sparks' third season, in which they competed in the 50 over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the Twenty20 Charlotte Edwards Cup. In the Charlotte Edwards Cup, the side finished second in Group A, winning four of their six matches and progressing to the semi-final as the best second-placed team. They beat South East Stars by 2 wickets in the semi-final, but lost to Southern Vipers by 6 wickets in the final. Central Sparks wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones was named as Player of the Year in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, and was the tournament's leading run-scorer with 289 runs in 8 matches. The side finished fifth in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, winning two of their six matches.

In the final, they beat Central Sparks by 5 wickets with 4.1 overs to spare, therefore claiming their first Charlotte Edwards Cup title.

The side won both competitions, completing the domestic double: in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, the side finished second in the group before defeating North West Thunder in the play-off and The Blaze in the final, whilst in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy the side won the initial group stage before again defeating The Blaze in the final.
The 2023 season saw The Blaze compete in the 50 over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the Twenty20 Charlotte Edwards Cup. The season was the first since their rebrand as The Blaze, having previously been known as Lightning, with the team also primarily based at Trent Bridge, having previously been based at Loughborough University. The side were runners-up in both competitions. In the Charlotte Edwards Cup, the side finished top of the group stage, winning all seven of their matches, but lost to Southern Vipers in the final. In the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, the side finished second in the group stage before beating South East Stars in the play-off, but again lost in the final to Southern Vipers.
