Elections in Bangladesh in 2023 include election to the office of the President of Bangladesh, by-elections to the Jatiya Sangsad, elections to the 5 (five) City Corporation, several municipalities and local bodies.

Presidential election

Presidential election was held on 13 February 2023. AL-nominated candidate Shahabuddin Chuppu won the election unopposed. [1]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Bangladeshi presidential election</span> Indirect election held in Bangladesh

The 2023 Bangladeshi presidential election was scheduled for Sunday, 19 February 2023 to elect the 22nd President of Bangladesh. However, nominations closed at noon on 12 February and the Awami League politician Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu, who had nominated in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, was the only candidate nominated. On 13 February 2023, Shahabuddin was thus officially elected as the country's 22nd president as he was unopposed.

In 2023, by-elections are scheduled to be held for vacant seats in the Jatiya Sangsad, the legislative body of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. In the Jatiya Sangsad, MPs for 300 seats are elected directly and MPs for 50 reserved women seats are elected indirectly by the MPs, thus popular by-elections are only held in the direct seats. As the 11th parliament is scheduled to be expire on 29 January 2024 and the Election Commission has announced to hold the next Bangladeshi general election between late December 2023 to early January 2024, all candidates elected by these by-polls will be members of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mohammed Shahabuddin</span> President of Bangladesh since 2023

Mohammed Shahabuddin is a Bangladeshi jurist, civil servant, and politician who is the 16th and incumbent President of Bangladesh. He was elected unopposed in the 2023 presidential election in the nomination of the ruling Awami League. Prior to his presidency, he served as a district and sessions judge and a commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission from 2011 to 2016.

Jayeda Khatun is a Bangladeshi housewife-turned-politician, and the 3rd mayor-elect of Gazipur. She was elected as mayor of the Gazipur City Corporation in 2023 city election contesting as an independent candidate and by defeating Awami League candidate Azmat Ullah Khan.

Abul Khair Abdullah is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and businessman. He is elected 5th Mayor of the Barisal City Corporation. He is a brother of Awami League politician Abul Hasanat Abdullah and son of Abdur Rab Serniabat.

MohammedGolam Farooq Pinku is Bangladeshi politician and parliament member of Jatiya Sangsad elected from the Lakshmipur-3. He is serving as the president of Lakshmipur district Awami League since 2015.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mohit Ur Rahman Shanto</span> Bangladeshi Politician

Mohit Ur Rahman Shanto is a Bangladeshi politician and a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Mymensingh-4 constituency. He won for the Bangladesh Awami League in the 2024 Bangladeshi general election. Shanta is the son of former religion minister Matiur Rahman. He is a councillor of the Bangladesh Cricket Board from Mymensingh.
