Elections in Bangladesh in 2024 include the general election, by-elections to the Jatiya Sangsad, elections to two city corporations, several municipalities and local bodies.
General elections took place in Bangladesh on 7 January 2024, in accordance with the constitutional requirement, stating that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the current term of the Jatiya Sangshad on 29 January 2024. The Awami League, led by incumbent Sheikh Hasina, won the election for the fourth consecutive time with only around 40% of the eligible voters voting. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Begum Rowshan Ershad is a Jatiya Party politician from Bangladesh. She was the former Jatiya Sangsad member from the Mymensingh-4 constituency and the former leader of the opposition in the 11th parliament. She is the chief patron of the Jatiya Party (Ershad) and the widow of former Bangladesh president Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
Nuruzzaman Ahmed is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Lalmonirhat-2 constituency during 2014–2024. Earlier, he served as the minister of social welfare and the state minister of social welfare and state minister of food.

2024 Bangladesh post-resignation violence refers to the violence that took place in Bangladesh after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, targeting Awami League supporters, religious minorities, government and security officials. On the day of the resignation 25 police officers were killed. According to the Daily Sun at least 119 were killed that day. According to Prothom Alo 1494 scuptures and monuments were vandalized across Bangladesh after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina.
