The Big 12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas. It consists of 16 full-member universities in the states of Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.
The 2011 BYU Cougars football team represented Brigham Young University in the 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cougars, led by head coach Bronco Mendenhall, played their home games at LaVell Edwards Stadium. This was the first year they competed as an independent in football. They finished the season 10–3 and were invited to the Armed Forces Bowl where they defeated Tulsa 24–21.
The 2012–13 BYU Cougars men's basketball team represented Brigham Young University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. It was head coach Dave Rose's eighth season at BYU and the Cougars second season in the West Coast Conference. The Cougars played their home games at the Marriott Center. The Cougars finished the regular season at 21–11, good for third place in the WCC. The Cougars accepted an invitation to the NIT, where they lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Baylor. The Cougars finished with an overall record of 24–12, one win away from what would have been a seventh consecutive 25-win season.
The Big 12 Conference is a group of 16 universities which compete in the NCAA Division I level. The conference was formed in 1994 but did not begin conference play until the fall of 1996. The schools that composed the Big 12 Conference in the most recent 2022–23 season, except West Virginia, were members of either the Big Eight Conference or the Southwest Conference, and have won six national titles including three titles since the inception of the Big 12 Conference.
The 1987 BYU Cougars football team represented Brigham Young University during the 1987 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Cougars were led by 16th-year head coach LaVell Edwards and played their home games at Cougar Stadium in Provo, Utah. The team competed as members of the Western Athletic Conference, finishing in second with a record of 9–4. BYU was invited to the All-American Bowl, where they were defeated by Virginia. The Cougars also participated in a rare college football game played outside the United States, in a regular season finale against Colorado State played in Melbourne, Australia. The game was promoted as the "Melbourne Bowl" but was met with weak enthusiasm in Australia.
The 2006 NCAA Division I softball season, play of college softball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began in February 2006. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2006 NCAA Division I softball tournament and 2006 Women's College World Series. The Women's College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament and held in held in Oklahoma City at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, ended on June 6, 2006.

Gordon Eakin entered the year as head coach of the Cougars for a 19th consecutive season. 2021 was the eighth season for the Cougars as members of the WCC in softball. The Cougars entered 2021 having won their last 11 conference championships, though they never made it to conference play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2022 BYU Cougars softball team represented Brigham Young University in the 2022 NCAA Division I softball season. Gordon Eakin entered the year as head coach of the Cougars for a 20th consecutive season. 2022 was the ninth season for the Cougars as members of the WCC in softball. The Cougars entered 2022 having won their last 12 conference championships and having been picked as the favorites to win the 2022 WCC title.
The 2022–23 BYU Cougars women's basketball team represented Brigham Young University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. It was head coach Amber Whiting's first season at BYU after Jeff Judkins retired at the end of the previous season. The Cougars, playing as members of the West Coast Conference for the final season, played their home games at the Marriott Center.
The 2023 Baylor Bears football team represented Baylor University in the Big 12 Conference during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Bears were led by Dave Aranda in his fourth season as their head coach.

The Houston Cougars football team drew an average home attendance of 36,020 in 2023.
The 2023 BYU Cougars softball team represented Brigham Young University in the 2023 NCAA Division I softball season. Gordon Eakin entered the year as head coach of the Cougars for a 21st consecutive season. 2023 was the tenth and final season for the Cougars as members of the WCC in softball as they joined the Big 12 Conference for the 2024 season. The Cougars entered 2023 having won their last 13 conference championships and having been picked as the favorites to win the 2023 WCC title.
The 2023 BYU Cougars women's soccer team represented Brigham Young University during the 2023 NCAA Division I women's soccer season. The Cougars were coached for a 29th consecutive season by Jennifer Rockwood, who was co-coach in 1995 and became the solo head coach in 1996. Before 1995 BYU women's soccer competed as a club team and not as a member of the NCAA. Overall the Cougars had made the NCAA tournament in 23 of the 28 seasons that Rockwood had been the head coach. Joining Rockwood were newly promoted associate head coach Brent Anderson and as assistant coaches Steve Magleby and Tasha Bell. Volunteer assistants Rachel Jorgensen and Madie Gates also return.
The 2023–24 BYU Cougars men's basketball team represented Brigham Young University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cougars were led by fifth-year head coach Mark Pope and played their home games at Marriott Center in Provo, Utah as first-year members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 23–11, 10–8 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for fifth place. As the No. 5 seed in the Big 12 tournament, they defeated UCF in the second round before losing to Texas Tech. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 6 seed in the East region. The Cougars lost in the first round to Duquesne.
The 2023 BYU Cougars women's volleyball team represented Brigham Young University in the 2023 NCAA Division I women's volleyball season. The Cougars are led by ninth year head coach Heather Olmstead and played their home games at the Smith Fieldhouse. The Cougars were competing as members of the Big 12 Conference for the first time.
The 2024 Big 12 Conference football season will be the 29th season of the Big 12 Conference football taking place during the 2024 NCAA Division I FBS football season.
The 2024 BYU Cougars baseball team represented Brigham Young University during the 2024 NCAA Division I baseball season. Trent Pratt continued as the new head coach of the BYU Cougars baseball team after taking over the interim duties in 2022.

The conference recognizes two official All-Big 12 selectors: (1) the Big 12 conference coaches selected separate offensive and defensive units and named first- and second-team players ; and (2) a panel of sports writers and broadcasters covering the Big 12 also selected offensive and defensive units and named first- and second-team players.
