The 2024 Memphis Tigers football team will represent the University of Memphis in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) during the 2024 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers are led by Ryan Silverfield in his fifth year as the head coach. The Tigers will play their home games at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, located in Memphis, Tennessee. [1] [2]

Ralph Lee Hatley Sr. was an American football coach and player. He served as the head football coach at Memphis State University from 1947 to 1957, compiling a record of 60–43–5 in 11 seasons. As head coach, he led the Tigers to their first bowl appearance, a 32–12 victory in the 1956 Burley Bowl over East Tennessee State. A standout lineman under Robert Neyland at Tennessee from 1933 to 1935, Hatley also served as head coach at two Tennessee high schools, Dyersburg High School in Dyersburg, Tennessee and Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tennessee as well as an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

The 2019 Memphis Tigers football team represented the University of Memphis in the 2019 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers played their home games at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee, and competed in the West Division of the American Athletic Conference. They were led by fourth-year head coach Mike Norvell through the team's win in the American Championship Game, after which he left to fill the head coaching vacancy at Florida State. It was the first outright/unshared conference championship in 50 seasons. The team lost only two games, a regular season match-up against Temple and their bowl game against Penn State. Offensive line coach Ryan Silverfield was initially named head coach of the team for their bowl game, the Cotton Bowl; the interim tag was removed and he was named the new head coach of the Tigers.

Ryan Daniel Silverfield is an American football coach who is the head football coach at the University of Memphis. Silverfield has spent most of his coaching career, which began during his senior year of high school, as either a line coach or a member of the offensive staff. He was hired at Memphis by then-head coach Mike Norvell prior to the 2016 season. After Norvell's departure to Florida State on December 8, 2019, Silverfield served as the interim head coach before being promoted to head coach on December 28, 2019.

The 1960 Memphis State Tigers football team represented Memphis State College as an independent during the 1960 NCAA University Division football season. In its first year of competition in the University Division and its third season under head coach Billy J. Murphy, the team compiled an 8–2 record and outscored opponents by a total of 303 to 85. Wayne Armstrong and Miller Matthews were the team captains. The team played its home games at Crump Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee.

The 1971 Memphis State Tigers football team represented Memphis State University as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) during the 1971 NCAA University Division football season.
