The 2024–25 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was a first-class domestic cricket competition held in Pakistan during the 2024–25 season from 26 October to 6 January 2025. It was the 68th edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, and it is contested by 18 teams representing regional cricket associations. [1]

Contents

Format

For the 2024–25 competition the number of teams was increased from eight to 18, in three pools of six teams each. Three of the teams – Larkana Region, Azad Jammu & Kashmir Region and Dera Murad Jamali Region – were competing at first-class level for the first time. [2]

After a 15-match round-robin in each pool, the top team from each pool took part in a three-team, three-match series. The top two teams from this series then played off in the final, beginning on 2 January. [2] [3]

It was the 55th edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, and was contested by fourteen teams representing regional cricket associations. The 2013–14 Faysal Bank T20 Cup was the tenth season of the Faysal Bank T20 Cup in Pakistan, sponsored by Faysal Bank. The tournament was held from 6 to 16 February 2014 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi; Diamond Ground, Islamabad; Marghazar Ground, Islamabad and National Ground, Islamabad. A total of 17 teams were divided into four groups, the most teams in the tournament's history. The highlight of this tournament was the inclusion for the first time of three new teams: FATA Cheetahs, Dera Murad Jamali Ibexes and Larkana Bulls. Broadcasting rights were given to PTV Sports which aired all of the matches live.

The 2015–16 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was the 58th edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the premier domestic first-class cricket competition in Pakistan. It was contested by 16 teams representing eight regional associations and eight departments.

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas cricket team (FATA) is a first-class cricket side represents Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan. They first competed domestic cricket in Pakistan in the 2015–16 season. FATA entered the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy through a qualifying round. In their first ever first-class match, they drew with Habib Bank Limited cricket team in the 2015–16 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. They won their first match in round 6 of the same edition of the tournament, when they defeated Rawalpindi by four wickets.

The 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was the 60th edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan's domestic first-class cricket competition. It was contested by 16 teams representing eight regional associations and eight departments, and took place from 26 September to 25 December 2017, spanning almost two weeks less than originally planned. Pakistan's former Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq was critical of the compressed schedule and the quality of the pitches saying "it takes time to prepare a good pitch for a game and nobody can make it in two days".

The 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was a first-class domestic cricket competition that took place in Pakistan from 1 September to 8 December 2018. Following the conclusion of each match, the teams played each other in a List A fixture in the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup tournament. The 2023–24 Hanif Mohammad Trophy is a domestic sub-first-class cricket competition in Pakistan. It is the first edition of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy, and it is contested by ten teams representing regional cricket associations. It ran concurrently with the first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, contested by eight regional associations. The winners of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy will be promoted to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for 2024–25.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir cricket team is a Pakistani cricket team based in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. Beginning with the 2024–25 season, it participates in Pakistan's first-class, List A and Twenty20 competitions.

Azan Awais is a Pakistani cricketer who began playing first-class cricket for Sialkot in the 2024–25 season.
