The 36th European Film Awards, presented by the European Film Academy to recognize achievements in European filmmaking, took place at Arena Berlin in Berlin on 9 December 2023. It was the twenty-second time that the awards ceremony took place in Germany. [1]
The full list of nominations was revealed on 7 November 2023. Aki Kaurismäki's Fallen Leaves and Jonathan Glazer's The Zone of Interest led the nominations with five each. [2] Justine Triet's Anatomy of a Fall swept the awards, winning in each of the categories it was nominated for, including European Film, European Director, European Screenwriter and European Actress. The European Short Film 2023 is presented in co-operation with the following European film festivals. At each of the festivals, a jury appointed by the festival chooses a single candidate. [7]

The nominees were announced on 5 October 2023. The nominated films will be viewed and discussed in 25 universities in 25 countries and each institution will select its favourite film. In early December, one student representative from each university will attend a three-day deliberation meeting in Hamburg to decide on the overall winner. The winner will then be announced on 7 December, shortly before this year's European Film Awards Ceremony on 9 December in Berlin. [15]

CENELEC is responsible for European standardization in the area of electrical engineering. Together with ETSI (telecommunications) and CEN, it forms the European system for technical standardization. Aniello Desiderio is an Italian virtuoso classical guitarist and teacher, professor at the Conservatorio Domenico Cimarosa in Avellino. He is known for his intricate touch, speed and precision on the instrument, delivering "acrobatic arpeggios and scales of extraordinary brilliance", which has led to comparisons with Paganini. He is particularly renowned for his interpretations of Paganini, Scarlatti, Carulli, and lesser known Italian composers on a world scale.
The European Film Award for Best Actress is an award given out at the annual European Film Awards to recognize an actress who has delivered an outstanding leading performance in a film industry. The awards are presented by the European Film Academy (EFA) and was first presented in 1988 to Spanish actress Carmen Maura for her role as Pepa in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.

The 35th European Film Awards, presented by the European Film Academy to recognize achievements in European filmmaking, took place at the Harpa Conference and Concert Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland on 10 December 2022. According to the academy, films eligible for the awards are those that had their first official screening between 1 June 2021 and 31 May 2022 and have a European director.

20,000 Species of Bees is a 2023 Spanish drama film written and directed by Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren in her debut feature. It stars Sofía Otero, Patricia López Arnaiz, Ane Gabarain, and Itziar Lazkano. The film narrates the story of Lucía, an eight-year-old transgender girl, who is on a quest for identity. During a summer in a village house linked to beekeeping, she explores her femininity alongside the women of her family, who at the same time reflect on their own.
Valérie Delpierre is a Monaco-born film producer whose career has been in and around Spain. She produces films from her company Inicia Films. One of the films she produced took three Gaudí Awards for Best Film in a Non-Catalan Language, best novel Director and best Cinematography for 20,000 Species of Bees in 2024.
The 37th European Film Awards, presented by the European Film Academy to recognize achievements in European filmmaking, took place at Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern in Lucerne on 7 December 2024. It marked the first time the awards ceremony was held in Switzerland. Swiss host and voiceover actor Fernando Tiberini hosted the ceremony.
