The 37th European Film Awards, presented by the European Film Academy to recognize achievements in European filmmaking, will take place at Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern in Lucerne on 7 December 2024. It will be the first time the awards ceremony takes place in Switzerland. [1]

Winners and nominees

The nominees for European Animated Feature Film were revealed on 9 October 2024. [8] The nominees for European Short Film were revealed on 16 October 2024. [9] [10] The nominees for the main categories were announced on 5 November 2024. [11] [12] The winners of the Excellence Awards were announced on 13 November 2024, honoring the arts and crafts of filmmaking in eight categories. [13] [14]

Eurocon is an annual science fiction convention held in Europe. The organising committee of each Eurocon is selected by a vote of the participants of the previous event. The procedure is coordinated by the European Science Fiction Society. The first Eurocon was held in Trieste, Italy, in 1972. Unlike Worldcons, Eurocon is usually a title attached to an existing convention. The European SF Awards are given in most of the conventions giving recognition to the best works and achievements in science fiction.

The Model European Parliament (MEP) is an international simulation of the working of the European Parliament for students aged 16–19. The aim of the programme is to give young people an insight into the workings of the European Parliament and raise their awareness of European citizenship. The European Parliament LUX Prize, commonly known as the LUX Prize or LUX Film Prize, was a prize given to a competing film by the European Parliament. Introduced in 2007, the prize is named after the Latin word for "light", lux.

The OGAE Second Chance Contest is a visual event which was founded in 1987 and is organised by branches of OGAE, the international fan club of the Eurovision Song Contest. Four nations competed in the first contest which took place in 1987. The competition was previously a non-televised event, but evolved over the years by the usage of video tape and later DVD, YouTube and streaming services.

The 23rd European Film Awards were presented on 4 December, 2010, in Tallinn, Estonia.

The 29th European Film Awards were presented on 10 December 2016 in Wrocław, Poland. The ceremony is one of a number of events to take place in Wrocław as the city is a 2016 European Capital of Culture, along with San Sebastián. The nominations and winners were selected by more than 2,500 members of the European Film Academy.

The European University Film Award is one of the awards presented by the European Film Academy, it was first awarded at the 29th European Film Awards in 2016 and is presented and voted by European university students.

The 32nd European Film Awards were presented in Berlin, Germany, on 7 December 2019.

The Venice TV Award is a television prize bestowed each year in September. Two weeks after the Venice International Film Festival, a team of jurors from around the world meet in Venice to select the winners of 19 categories. Prerequisite for a nomination is that the production was first broadcast on a television station. The exception is the New Talent category. This award also highlights that the TV industry is a $260 billion industry worldwide with around 38,500 TV channels in operation and is supported by egta, ACT and IMZ. This award brings national and international recognition for quality content.
