The 27th European Film Awards were presented on 13 December 2014 in Riga, Latvia. [1] [2] The winners were selected by more than 2,500 members of the European Film Academy. Nominations for the People's Choice Award category were announced on 1 September 2014. [3] [4] On 16 September 2014, the European Film Academy and EFA Productions announced a list of 50 films which qualified for nominations. [5] All nominations were announced on 8 November 2014 at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain. [6] [7] [8] British director Steve McQueen was presented with the European Achievement in World Cinema Award [9] and filmmaker Agnès Varda was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. [10]

Young Audience Award

Twelve- to fourteen-year-old audiences from across Europe voted for the winner after watching the three nominated films at special screenings held on "Young Audience Film Day". [14] [15]

In 1941, the first awards for feature-length documentaries were bestowed as Special Awards to Kukan and Target for Tonight. Beauty and the Beast is a 2014 romantic fantasy film based on the traditional fairy tale of the same name by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. Written by Christophe Gans and Sandra Vo-Anh and directed by Gans, the film stars Léa Seydoux as Belle and Vincent Cassel as the Beast.

<i>Class Enemy</i> (film) 2013 film

Class Enemy is a 2013 Slovenian drama film directed by Rok Biček. The film was selected as the Slovenian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. It was nominated for the 2014 Lux Prize. It won the Fedeora Award at the 28th Venice Critics' Week.

The European Achievement in Fiction Series Award has been awarded annually by the European Film Academy since 2019. As a new category, the Academy introduces the European Achievement in Fiction Series Award, to reflect the changes in the cinematic landscape. German series Babylon Berlin is the first recipient of the prize. EFA chairwoman Agnieszka Holland said: “For younger generations, series are a much more popular format than theatrically released movies and if we want to remain relevant for our audiences, the EFAs need to reflect that.”

The 33rd European Film Awards was scheduled to be presented in Reykjavík, Iceland on 12 December 2020. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic the awards were announced in a virtual event online.

The 34th European Film Awards were presented in Berlin, Germany on 11 December 2021. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the awards went ahead without an in person audience, taking the form of a hybrid event, including pre-produced and live online.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">35th European Film Awards</span>

The 35th European Film Awards, presented by the European Film Academy to recognize achievements in European filmmaking, took place at the Harpa Conference and Concert Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland on 10 December 2022. According to the academy, films eligible for the awards are those that had their first official screening between 1 June 2021 and 31 May 2022 and have a European director.
