Murugadas Arunachalam, known professionally as AR Murugadas, is an Indian film director, screenwriter and film producer who predominantly works in the Tamil film industry. It has been given annually since 2006, with the latest—the 10th edition—of the award-giving ceremony having been held in May 2018. The awards are decided by a jury, consisting of noted film-makers, critics and technicians, while winners in a separate category named "Favourite awards" are chosen by public voting. The awards have been sponsored by Reliance Mobile, Univercell and Close Up. After the last ceremony was the 10th Vijay Awards in 2018, the Vijay Awards were cancelled due to past controversies and waning public interest.

He is a recipient of several accolades including a National Film Award, two Filmfare Awards South and two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.

The 8th Vijay Awards ceremony honouring the best of the Tamil film industry in 2013 was held on 5 July 2014 at Chennai. The event was hosted by Gopinath and Divyadharshini.

Deverakonda Vijay Sai, professionally known as Vijay Deverakonda, is an Indian actor and film producer who works predominantly in Telugu films. One of the highest-paid actors of Telugu cinema, he has featured in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2018 and has received several accolades, including a Filmfare Award, a Nandi Award, and a SIIMA Award.
