Abdul Sattar Abdul Nabi is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He was briefly a minister in 2014 in the Congress government in Maharashtra. In 2019 he left Congress and joined Shiv Sena. He is a three term Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Sillod constituency. [2] [3] He served as the state's Cabinet Minister for Animal Husbandry. [4]
In 1984,Sattar successfully contested the Grampanchayat elections. He entered Taluka politics in 1994–95,becoming the Mayor (Nagaradhyaksha) of Sillod city on 5 March 1994. He approached Congress in 1999 to become a candidate for the Legislative Assembly elections,but was unsuccessful. He stood as an independent and finished second.[ citation needed ]
He was elected as the Vidhanparishad MLA of Sillod in 2001. After his term ended as MLA,Abdul Sattar contested the legislative assembly elections of 2004,losing by 301 votes.
He was elected as the MLA for the Sillod constituency from the Aurangabad district in 2009,winning by a margin of 30,000 votes with the help of local political leader Prabhakarr Palodkar,who had recently rejoined the Congress party after 12 years.
In 2014,he won a second term in the legislative assembly, [5] and was appointed a cabinet minister with the animal husbandry,fisheries and dairy development portfolio. [6] [7] In 2016,he petitioned for banning alcohol sales in the state of Maharashtra. [8]
On 22 March 2017,Sattar was suspended until 31 December,along with 18 other MLAs,for interrupting Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar during a state budget session and burning copies of the budget outside the assembly four days earlier. [9] On 15 June 2017,a case was filed against Sattar and 29 others for rioting and assaulting a farmer. [10]
On 19 December 2016,Sattar resigned as the leader of the Congress Party in Aurangabad district,claiming that the party had not cooperated with him during the 2016 local elections. [11]
On 30 July 2018,Sattar resigned from the Assembly in support of the Maratha quota demand,which would guarantee government jobs and education to be reserved for Marathas. [12]
In March 2019,Sattar was expecting to become the Congress Party candidate for the Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency for the 2019 Indian general election. On being denied a ticket,which instead went to Subhash Zambad,Sattar resigned from the party. [13] [14] Sattar also removed 300 chairs from the local party office,claiming they belonged to him. [15] [16] Congress party officially expelled Sattar on 20 April 2019 for anti-party activities. [17] [18] In late March 2019,Sattar announced he would join the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), [19] but this move was opposed by the local BJP leadership, [20] later Sattar backtracked by saying that his meeting with the Devendra Fadnavis (BJP chief minister) was apolitical. [21] In late June 2019,Sattar met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray,fueling speculation that he may join the party. [22] [23]
Sattar officially joined the Shiv Sena party on 2 September 2019 in presence of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. [24] [25] [26]
Shiv Sena is a right-wing Marathi regionalist and Hindu ultranationalist political party in India founded in 1966 by Bal Thackeray. Currently led by Eknath Shinde,this party is the ruling party of the Indian state of Maharashtra since 2019. Shiv Sena's election symbol is the Bow and Arrow. It uses the saffron colour in its flag and a image of a roaring tiger.
The Nationalist Congress Party is one of the state parties in India. The party generally supports Indian nationalism and Gandhian secularism. It is one of the major political parties in Maharashtra,Nagaland and Kerala. In July 2023,majority of the elected MLAs and MLCs of the party led by Ajit Pawar joined the National Democratic Alliance government,however,all MPs except two are expected to remain loyal to Sharad Pawar. This caused a direct split between the Ajit Pawar-led NCP Faction and the Founder and President of the party Sharad Pawar.

Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray is an Indian politician who served as the 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 2019 to 2022 and the Leader of the House,Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from 2019 to 2022. He is a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council since 2020,the president of Maha Vikas Aghadi since 2019 and the president of Shiv Sena since 2022. He was also the leader (pramukh) of Shiv Sena from 2013 to 2022,working President from 2003 to 2013 and the editor-in-chief of Saamana from 2006 to 2019.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is a Regionalist far-right Indian political party based in the state of Maharashtra and operates on the ideology of Hindutva and Marathi Manus. It was founded on 9 March 2006 in Mumbai by Raj Thackeray after he left the Shiv Sena party due to differences with his cousin Uddhav Thackeray,who later became the 19th Chief Minister Of Maharashtra and to his sidelining by the Shiv Sena in major decisions like distribution of election tickets.

Subhash Desai is an Indian politician and leader of Shiv Sena from Maharashtra. He is a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council. He had represented Goregaon in 1990,2004 and 2009. The 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 21 October 2019 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. After a 61.4% turnout in the election,the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena (SHS) won a majority. Following differences over the government formation,the alliance was dissolved,precipitating a political crisis.
A political crisis in the Indian state of Maharashtra occurred on 21 October 2019 after the declaration of results of the 2019 legislative assembly election over the formation of a new state government. The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party Shiv Sena alliance crossed the majority of 145 seats needed in the assembly by winning a total of 161 seats in the alliance. Individually BJP won 105 and SHS won 56 seats. The Opposition INC-NCP Alliance with 106 seats did not reach the majority mark. Individually INC won 44 and NCP won 54 seats.
Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra for the second time on 23 November 2019. Alongside Fadnavis,Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the deputy chief minister. Before a Supreme Court-ordered no confidence motion could take place,Pawar resigned on 26 November. Fadnavis resigned shortly thereafter,making his second ministry the shortest Maharashtra ministry,surpassing P. K. Sawant's 1963 interim government,that had lasted for nine days.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi or Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi,abbreviated as MVA,is a state-level political coalition formed after the 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray of,Sharad Pawar of the NCP and Sonia Gandhi of the INC,along with the support from the Samajwadi Party,PWPI,CPI(M) and several other political parties including Independent MLAs. MVA is currently the official opposition in Maharashtra Legislature.
