北長洲石;lit.'north Cheung Chau rock') [1] is an uninhabited undersea rock in Hong Kong,in the centre of the busy Adamasta Channel between the Chi Ma Wan Peninsula of Lantau Island and Cheung Chau island,in Hong Kong. [1] It falls within the Islands District.
The rock is submerged at high water and presents a significant shipping hazard due to its location in the middle of the Adamasta shipping channel. The Hong Kong Marine Department has installed a fixed beacon (isolated danger) on the rock and two cardinal buoys on either side to warn shipping. [2]
On Sunday 8 May 2011,the river trader "Zhong Fu Fa Zhan" grounded on the rock. [3]

The Adamasta Channel is a narrow passage between the Chi Ma Wan Peninsula of Lantau Island and Cheung Chau island in Hong Kong. It is one of the few passages in Hong Kong waters with a significant hazard,the Adamasta Rock,in the middle;however,the rock is well marked with a fixed light,and port- and starboard-hand buoys on either side. The name is likely a misspelling of Adamastor,the name of a Portuguese light cruiser which ran aground on the rock in 1906.
Tsing Yi Peak,also known as Sam Chi Heung,is a hill with three peaks occupying the southern half of the Tsing Yi Island,Hong Kong. The hill is situated on the western half of Victoria Harbour. Its peaks are good locations to observe the harbour and the channels among harbour islands. While situated in the south,a short hill Liu To Shan occupies the northwest of the island.
Kwai Tsing Container Terminals is the main port facilities in the reclamation along Rambler Channel between Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi Island,Hong Kong. It evolved from four berths of Kwai Chung Container Port completed in the 1970s. It later expanded with two berths in the 1980s. Two additional terminals are added adjoining to Stonecutters Island in the 1990s and was renamed Kwai Chung Container Terminals. In the 2000s,Container Terminal 9 on the Tsing Yi Island was completed and the entire facility was renamed to Kwai Tsing Container Terminals.

On 1 October 2012,at approximately 20:23 HKT,the passenger ferries Sea Smooth and Lamma IV collided off Yung Shue Wan,Lamma Island,Hong Kong. This occurred on the National Day of the People's Republic of China,and one of the ships was headed for the commemorative firework display,scheduled to take place half an hour later. With 39 killed and 92 injured,the incident was the deadliest maritime disaster in Hong Kong since 1971.
Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach is a gazetted beach facing Tung Wan on the east coast of Cheung Chau,Hong Kong. The beach is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. The beach is 230 metres long and is rated as Grade 1 by the Environmental Protection Department for its water quality. It is one of the two beaches in Cheung Chau along with Kwun Yam Beach and the beach is the largest in the island.
