Adolpho Veloso (born 31 May 1989) is a Brazilian cinematographer. He is known for his work on Train Dreams (2025), for which he became the first Brazilian nominated for the BAFTA and the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. [1] [2] [3] [4]
For the film, he won the Critics Choice Award [5] and received a nomination from the American Society of Cinematographers. [6]
Veloso was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and developed an interest in filmmaking from a young age. [7] [8] He studied film at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado. [8]
Since 2025, he resides in Portugal. [9]
His work has been described as minimalist and observational, [10] reflecting influences from American cinematographers like Gordon Willis. [9]
