Kentucky Speedway is a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) tri-oval speedway in Sparta, Kentucky, which has hosted ARCA, NASCAR and Indy Racing League racing annually since it opened in 2000. The track is currently owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports, Inc. Before 2008 Jerry Carroll, along with four other investors, were the majority owners of Kentucky Speedway. Depending on layout and configuration the track facility has a grandstand capacity of 107,000.

The reconfigured track measures 1.44 miles (2.32 km) with banked 20° in turns 1 and 2 and banked 24° in turns 3 and 4. Texas Motor Speedway is a quad-oval design, where the front straightaway juts outward slightly. The track layout is similar to Atlanta Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. In 2011, the race became a Friday night race after being held on Saturday afternoon since 1997, returning to Saturday afternoon in 2017. Kyle Busch is the defending winner of the event after winning it in 2021. In 2021, the race was moved from April to June as a part of All-Star Race Weekend, in which Texas will host the All-Star Race for the first time, but the distance was reduced from 300 to 250 miles.

(SMI), and defendants NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation (ISC), which are both owned by the France family. Ferko filed a derivative suit that contended NASCAR and ISC violated an implied agreement with SMI to provide a second NEXTEL Cup race per racing season upon completion of the speedway and violated antitrust laws by preventing SMI from obtaining one.
