Angel One Limited, formerly known as Angel Broking Limited, is an Indian stockbroker firm established in 1996. The company is a member of the Bombay Stock Exchange, [3] National Stock Exchange of India, National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited and Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited. [4] It is a depository participant with Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL). [5]

History

Angel Broking was incorporated on 8 August 1996 as a private limited company. [6] Later, Angel Broking was incorporated as a wealth management, retail and corporate broking firm in september, 1997. [7] In November 1998, Angel Capital and Debt Market Ltd. gained membership of National Stock Exchange as a legal entity. [8] The company opened its commodity broking Division in April, 2004. [9] In November 2007, Birla Sun Life Insurance joined hands with Angel Broking for distribution of its insurance products. [10] The International Finance Corporation bought an 18% stake in Angel Broking for 152 crore (equivalent to 459 croreorUS$57 million in 2023) in December 2007. [11] The company opened an office in Karol Bagh, New Delhi in October 2012. [12]

In January 2013, a probe found the company and two other entities involved in fraudulent and unfair trade practices in transactions of shares of Sun Infoways during Feb-May 2001. As a result, SEBI restrained from taking new clients for a period of two weeks. [13] Angel filed an appeal against the SEBI order which was dismissed by the Securities appellate tribunal. [13] [14] Angel Broking began offered shares through an initial public offering in September 2020, and was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange on 5 October 2020. [15]

The company rebranded as Angel One in 2021. [16] [17] Currently Angel One holds 3rd ranking in the list of top 10 stock brokers in India with more than 50+ lakh active clients under its belt. [18]

The IDBI Bank Limited is a development finance institution under the ownership of Life Insurance Corporation of India and Government of India. It was established in 1964 as Industrial Development Bank of India, a development finance institution, which provided financial services to industrial sector. In 2005, the institution was merged with its commercial division, IDBI Bank, forming the present-day banking entity and was categorised as "other development finance institution" category. Later in March 2019, Government of India asked Life Insurance Corporation to infuse capital in the bank due to high NPA and capital adequacy issues and also asked LIC to manage the bank to meet the regulatory norms. IDBI was put under Prompt corrective action of the RBI and on 10 March 2021 IDBI came out of the PCA. At present direct and indirect shareholding of Government of India in IDBI Bank is approximately 95%, which Government of India (GoI) vide its communication F.No. 8/2/2019-BO-II dated December 17, 2019, has clarified and directed all Central/State Government departments to consider IDBI Bank for allocation of Government Business. Many national institutes find their roots in IDBI like SIDBI, EXIM, National Stock Exchange of India, SEBI, National Securities Depository Limited.

Inter-connected Stock Exchange Ltd. (ISE) is an Indian national-level stock exchange. under the ownership of Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It is responsible for providing trading, clearing, settlement, risk management and surveillance support to its trading members. It started its operation in 1998 in Vashi, Mumbai, and has 841 trading members, who are located in 18 cities. In India, a Depository Participant (DP) is described as an Agent of the depository. They are the intermediaries between the depository and the investors. The relationship between the DPs and the depository is governed by an agreement made between the two under the Depositories Act. In a strictly legal sense, a DP is an entity who is registered as such with SEBI under the sub section 1A of Section 12 of the SEBI Act. As per the provisions of this Act, a DP can offer depository-related services only after obtaining a certificate of registration from SEBI. As of 2012, there were 288 DPs of NSDL and 563 DPs of CDSL registered with SEBI.
