Antaragni (English: "The Fire Within") is the annual cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, usually held in October. [1] Established in 1965, the four-day-long festival attracts participants from over 350 colleges in India and has garnered substantial media attention over the years. [2] It features professional shows, competitions, musical performances, DJs, fashion shows, Indian folk dances, and more.
Antaragni began as an inter-collegiate cultural event in 1965. The name of the festival was changed from Culfest to Antaragni in 1993, 27 years after its inception.[ citation needed ] The festival is entirely organised by students of IIT Kanpur, [3] with the Antaragni chairperson being the only faculty member on the team.[ citation needed ] Over 350 Indian colleges have participated in the event. [4]

It is a four-day-long event, attracting participation from more than 100 colleges across the country. Ritambhara has witnessed judges like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kunal Kapoor, Kanika Kapur, Arnela Zekovic, Simran Kaur Mundi, Bidita Bag, Noyonita Lodh, Shilpa Singh. Started in 1964, by a group of enthusiastic IITians, Ritambhara, now in its 53rd edition serves as a platform for designers and models alike to showcase their talents and skills through several themed competitive events. It is a non-profit event run solely by the students of IIT Kanpur. It was initially small and was funded entirely by the Student Gymkhana of IIT Kanpur.But with time it acquired fame in the world of fashion and today the budget is raised through sponsorship. Over the years, Ritambhara has also attracted considerable media attention and numerous well-known sponsors.

As many as 450 colleges and 40 government organizations actively participate and support this ceremonious event.
