Anthony Marcus Sanders (born March 2, 1974) is an American professional baseball former outfielder and current coach. He is the first base coach for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played in MLB for the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners, and in Nippon Professional Baseball (MLB) for the Yokohama BayStars.
As a member of the United States national baseball team, Sanders won a gold medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics. In 1997, Sanders' wife was killed in a skiing accident. [1] He joined the Colorado Rockies organization as the Tri-City ValleyCats hitting coach in 2007, and served in that role through 2012. [2] In 2013, Sanders was promoted to manager of the Grand Junction Rockies of the Rookie-level Pioneer League, and was named the circuit's 2014 manager of the year. [3] [4] He spent the 2013 through 2015 seasons as the Grand Junction manager. He served as the supervisor with the Class A Advanced Lancaster JetHawks in 2016 and 2017. [2] In the latter of those two seasons, the JetHawks achieved 326 stolen bases, with at least 30 each from six of its players including Garrett Hampson, Sam Hilliard and Yonathan Daza. [5] In 2018 and 2019, Sanders served as the Rockies outfield and baserunning coordinator. [6] [7]
He was named the Baltimore Orioles first base coach following the 2019 season. [8]
Juan Gabriel Castro, is a Mexican professional baseball coach and former infielder, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, and Philadelphia Phillies, during his 17-year big league career. Castro was known mainly for his defensive abilities. He was primarily a reserve player. Castro batted and threw right-handed. Following his retirement as a player, Castro joined the Dodgers organization as a coach. During the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Castro was the infield coach for the Phillies.
José Antonio Hernández Figueroa is a Puerto Rican professional baseball player and coach. Hernández played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as an infielder for the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Philadelphia Phillies from 1991 to 2006. He was an MLB All-Star in 2002.
Robert Andrew Meacham is an American former professional baseball shortstop, who spent his entire six-year big league playing career with the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). Since retiring from active play, Meacham has managed and coached for several organizations in the majors and minors.
Jeffrey Bryan Hammonds is an American former professional baseball player. Hammonds was an outfielder and played for the Baltimore Orioles (1993–1998), Cincinnati Reds (1998–1999), Colorado Rockies (2000), Milwaukee Brewers (2001–2003), San Francisco Giants (2003–2004) and the Washington Nationals (2005) in Major League Baseball (MLB). Before playing professionally, Hammonds played for Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and Stanford University.
Michael Devereaux is an American former Major League Baseball outfielder. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fifth round of the 1985 amateur draft and made his debut on September 2, 1987. Along with the Dodgers, Devereaux played for the Baltimore Orioles in two separate stints, and the Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers.
Kimera Anotchi Bartee was an American professional baseball outfielder and coach. Bartee played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and Colorado Rockies from 1996 to 2001. He coached in the minor leagues and returned to MLB as a coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2017. He later coached for the Philadelphia Phillies, before rejoining the Tigers as first base coach in 2021.
Jeffrey Dewan Salazar is an American professional baseball former outfielder and current coach. He was most recently the assistant hitting coach for the Colorado Rockies. He has played in MLB for Colorado, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Charles Edward "Chad" Mottola is an American professional baseball player and coach for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB). Mottola played in MLB for five years as an outfielder. Considered a journeyman, Mottola played professionally from 1992 through 2007, appearing in 59 MLB games and 1,801 minor league games. He was the hitting coach for the Toronto Blue Jays during the 2013 season, although his contract was not renewed for 2014.
Wayne Leonard Kirby is an American former professional baseball right fielder and former coach. He was the outfield/base-running coordinator for the Texas Rangers from 2006 through 2010. From 2011 through 2018, Kirby was the Baltimore Orioles first base and outfield coach. His younger brother is former NFL running back Terry Kirby.
Derrick Brant May is an American former outfielder who played for the Chicago Cubs (1990–94), Milwaukee Brewers (1995), Houston Astros (1995–96), Philadelphia Phillies (1997), Montreal Expos (1998) and Baltimore Orioles (1999). He also played three seasons in Japan, from 2001 until 2003, for the Chiba Lotte Marines. He was the assistant hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2016. He was the manager of the Frederick Keys of the MLB Draft League in 2021. In 2022 he was the Organization Hitting Coordinator for SSG Lander’s in Korea.
Eric Orlando Young Jr. is an American professional baseball former outfielder and coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Colorado Rockies, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Angels. He was the National League stolen base leader in 2013.
