In the botanical classification of plants, Aeridinae Pfitzer is a subtribe of the tribe Vandeae whose representatives all have a monopodial growth habit and do not possess pseudobulbs.
The Orchidoideae, or the orchidoid orchids, are a subfamily of the orchid family (Orchidaceae) that contains around 3630 species. Species typically have a single (monandrous), fertile anther which is erect and basitonic.
Bletiinae is a small-sized subtribe of orchids in the tribe Epidendreae of the subfamily Epidendroideae.
The Elymniini is one of the tribes of the subfamily Satyrinae. If the subfamily Satyrinae elevate to family status, this tribe shall be treated as subfamily Elymniinae. Elymniini was formerly a large group, but recently, it is considered to be include only one genus, Elymnias, according to molecular phylogenetic analyses.
Ponerorchis simplex is a species of plant in the family Orchidaceae. It is endemic to China, found only in Sichuan and Yunnan. Its flowers are yellow, sometimes with brown spots.
Ponerorchis camptoceras is a species of plant in the family Orchidaceae. It is endemic to the Sichuan region of China.
Tsaiorchis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Orchidaceae.
Andrias is a genus of giant salamanders. It includes the largest salamanders in the world, with A. japonicus reaching a length of 1.44 metres, and A. sligoi reaching 1.80 metres. While extant species are only known from East Asia, several extinct species in the genus are known from late Oligocene and Neogene aged fossils collected in Europe and North America, indicating that the genus formerly had a much wider range.
The Vandeae is a large monophyletic tribe within the family of orchids.
An alliance is an informal grouping used in biological taxonomy. The term "alliance" is not a taxonomic rank defined in any of the nomenclature codes. It is used for any group of species, genera or tribes to which authors wish to refer, that have at some time provisionally been considered to be closely related.
Oryzoideae (syn. Ehrhartoideae) is a subfamily of the true grass family Poaceae. It has around 120 species in 19 genera, notably including the major cereal crop rice. Within the grasses, this subfamily is one of three belonging to the species-rich BOP clade, which all use C3 photosynthesis; it is the basal lineage of the clade.
Orchideae is a tribe of orchids in the subfamily Orchidoideae. Historically, it was divided into 2 subtribes, Orchidinae and Habenariinae. The subtribe Orchidinae alone contains about 1,800 species. However, although some phylogenetic studies have established the monophyly of the subtribes, the generic boundaries are unclear, with many genera as traditionally circumscribed being paraphyletic or even polyphyletic. Species of genera such as Habenaria and Platanthera have been placed into both subtribes. A 2017 molecular phylogenetic study found that both subtribes did form clades, but did not formally recognize Habenariinae, because of missing genera and uncertainty over generic boundaries. The Asian species of Orchideae, in particular, have been subject to repeated changes of generic placement from 2012 onwards.
The Coelogyninae are an orchid subtribe in the tribe Arethuseae.
Neottieae is an orchid tribe in the subfamily Epidendroideae. It contains six genera and over 200 species distributed mainly in temperate and subtropical zones of the northern hemisphere. All its members are terrestrial plants, hinting at an early branching with Epidendroideae which is largely an epiphytic group. Neottieae is likely to be the result of a single temperate radiation of epidendroids, although it appears that some lineages in this tribe have crept back into the tropics.
Galearis camtschatica is a species of flowering plants in the orchid family, Orchidaceae, native to Korea, northern Japan, and the Russian Far East.
Platanthera stenochila is a species of flowering plant in the family Orchidaceae, native from east Nepal through the eastern Himalayas of India to south-central China.
Ponerorchis monantha is a species of plant in the family Orchidaceae native from south-east Tibet to south-central and north-central China.
Peristylus biermannianus is a species of flowering plant in the family Orchidaceae, native to Nepal and the eastern Himalayas.
Shizhenia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Orchidaceae. Its only species is Shizhenia pinguicula, native to south-east China.
Hsenhsua is a genus of flowering plant in the family Orchidaceae. Its only species is Hsenhsua chrysea, native to Bhutan to South Central China. It is placed in the tribe Orchideae.
