Fayetteville is the second-most populous city in Arkansas, the county seat of Washington County, and the most populous city in Northwest Arkansas. The city is on the outskirts of the Boston Mountains, deep within the Ozarks. Known as Washington until 1829, the city was named after Fayetteville, Tennessee, from which many of the settlers had come. It was incorporated on November 3, 1836, and was rechartered in 1867. Fayetteville is included in the three-county Northwest Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is ranked 100th in terms of population in the United States with 576,403 in 2022 according to the United States Census Bureau. The city had a population of 99,285 in 2022.

Willard Straight Hall is the student union building on the central campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. It is located on Campus Road, adjacent to the Ho Plaza and Cornell Health.

John Clinton Futrall was an American football coach and college administrator. An alumnus of the Arkansas Industrial University, later renamed the University of Arkansas, he was the first head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks football program, serving from 1894 to 1896, while the school's mascot was still the Cardinal. Futrall later served as president of the University of Arkansas from 1913 to 1939. He was killed in an auto accident in 1939. The first student union on the University of Arkansas campus was named Futrall Memorial Hall in his honor when it opened later that year.

As of 2008, LaFortune employs 35 part-time student staff and 29 full-time non-student staff and has an annual budget of $1.2 million. Jeffrey S. Gould Plaza is an outdoor campus plaza located on West 4th Street that is the home of several New York University (NYU) schools. It was named after NYU trustee Jeffrey S. Gould, and is also the namesake for the NYU welcome center of the same name. Surrounding the Plaza are the buildings of the Stern School of Business, Courant Institute of Mathematics, the economics department of NYU College of Arts and Science, NYU's Student Health Center, NYU's admissions center, Goddard Hall, Warren Weaver Hall, NYU's External Affairs building, and the Frederick Loewe Theatre.
