The College of Engineering is the University of Arkansas' college for engineering students.
The first engineering degree awarded by the university was in civil engineering in 1888. At the time, it was known as Arkansas Industrial University, and did not have a separate engineering college. The College of Engineering was established in 1913.
In 2006, a solar boat built by University of Arkansas mechanical engineering students and electrical engineering students won the Collegiate World Championships. [2]
There are eight different undergraduate degree programs, with 31 graduate degree programs, currently offered. [3]

The Industrial Engineering graduate program ranked 26th in the nation, and the Engineering program as a whole finished 98th, and is one of the "best values" for Arkansas students nationally. [13]
Prior to the establishment of a separate engineering college, education was conducted in Old Main. Engineering Hall, now known as the John A. White Jr. Engineering Hall became the primary engineering facility upon completion in 1927. In 1964, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering moved to the new Mechanical Engineering Building and Science Engineering Hall, respectively. Mechanical Engineering remains the only department separated from the others, located one block west at 845 West Dickson. The Department of Electrical Engineering moved with the remaining departments to Bell Engineering Center at 800 West Dickson upon its completion in 1987. Science Engineering Hall, at 850 West Dickson, continues to be used for classroom space by the various engineering departments.
A closed factory in south Fayetteville was purchased in 1983, now known as the Engineering Research Center at 600 West Research Center Boulevard. The Nanoscale Material Science and Engineering Building (known as the Nano Building), housing the microelectronics-photonics (MicroEP) program opened September 2011 at 731 West Dickson. [14] The program is coordinated between several engineering departments, science departments, physics department, poultry science department, and the University of Arkansas Graduate School.

It was founded in 1966 and named after the Victorian engineer and pioneer of the Industrial Revolution, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. In June 1966, Brunel College of Advanced Technology was awarded a royal charter and became Brunel University. The university is often described as a British plate glass university.

Flinders University is a public research university based in Adelaide, South Australia, with a footprint extending across 11 locations in South Australia and the Northern Territory. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of British navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the Australian and South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.
The Colorado School of Mines, informally called Mines, is a public research university in Golden, Colorado, founded in 1874. The school offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering, science, and mathematics, with a focus on energy and the environment. While Mines does offer minor degrees in the humanities, arts, and social sciences, it only offers major degrees in STEM fields, with the exception of economics. In the Fall 2022 semester, the school had 7,408 students enrolled, with 5,733 in an undergraduate program and 1,675 in a graduate program. The school has been co-educational since its founding, however, enrollment remains predominantly male. In every QS World University Ranking from 2016 to 2022, the university was ranked as the top institution in the world for mineral and mining engineering. It is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity".
Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, commonly referred to as IUPUI, is a public research university in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is a collaboration between Indiana University and Purdue University that offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees from both universities. Administered primarily through Indiana University as a core campus and secondarily through Purdue University as a regional campus, it is Indiana's primary urban research and academic health sciences institution. IUPUI is located in downtown Indianapolis along the White River and Fall Creek.
Chongqing University is a public research university located in Chongqing, China. It is a National Key University directly funded by the central government of China as part of the Double First Class University Plan, Project 211 and Project 985 and a member of the "Excellence League". It is also designated by the Chinese Ministry of Education as a Class A Double First Class University.
Tongji University is a comprehensive public research university located in Shanghai. Established in 1907 by the German government together with German physicians in Shanghai, Tongji is one of the longest-standing, most selective, and most prestigious universities in China under the Project 985 and Double First Class University Plan. It is a Chinese state Class A Double First Class University.

The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is a private university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 22-acre (8.9 ha) campus is in the East Town neighborhood of downtown Milwaukee. The school's enrollment of 2,820 includes 224 graduate students. As of fall 2018, the university has a total of 138 full-faculty, more than 33% of which are women. The student-to-faculty ratio is 15 to 1.
Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) is a research institution and university of engineering and science in Iran. The university is home to 15 faculties offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a wide range of engineering-based subjects as well as maths, physics, and department of foreign languages. In 1995 IUST awarded Iran’s first PhDs in materials, metallurgical and traffic engineering. IUST is the only university in the Middle East which has a school of railway engineering and a school of progress engineering. It is also the only university in Iran which has a school of automotive engineering. There are also 12 research centres, nine centres of excellence and 19 specialised libraries as well as four satellite campuses in other parts of the country. IUST is located on Hengam Street in the Narmak neighborhood in northeast Tehran. IUST and its surrounding communities provide a cultural and recreational environment suited to the work of a major research institution.
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is a public research university in Little Rock, Arkansas. Established as Little Rock Junior College by the Little Rock School District in 1927, the institution became a private four-year university under the name Little Rock University in 1957. It returned to public status in 1969 when it merged with the University of Arkansas System under its present name. The former campus of Little Rock Junior College is now (2019) the campus of Philander Smith College.
Yıldız Technical University is a prominent technical university dedicated to engineering and natural sciences, as well as social sciences recently, and is one of the oldest educational institutions in Istanbul, Turkey. The central campus lies within the Beşiktaş district and the new Davutpaşa campus lies within the Esenler district. The university is composed of ten faculties, three vocational schools, and two institutions.
The James McKelvey School of Engineering is a part of Washington University in St. Louis. Founded in 1854, the engineering school is a research institution occupying seven buildings on Washington University's Danforth Campus. Research emphasis is placed on cross-disciplinary technologies in the areas of alternative energy, environmental engineering & sustainable technology, biotechnology, information technology, and nanotechnology/materials science.
The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is the largest professional school, the second largest college, and one of the top three research units at the University of Florida. The college was founded in 1910, and in 2015 was named in honor of Herbert Wertheim – a serial inventor, philanthropist and UF Distinguished Alumnus. Located on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus, the college is composed of nine departments, 15 degree programs, and more than 20 centers and institutes. It produces research and graduates in more than a dozen fields of engineering and science including: aerospace, agricultural, biological, biomedical, chemical, civil, coastal, computer, computer science, digital arts, electrical, environmental, industrial, materials, mechanical, nuclear, and systems.
Babol Noshirvani University of Technology (BNUT), sometimes also referred to as Noshirvani Institute of Technology or NIT, is a public research university and Institute of Technology in Babol, Mazandaran Province in the north of Iran, 20 km south of the Caspian Sea. The university is an influential center for academic research in Iran, due to which it has been consistently ranked among the top schools in the country. BNUT is currently ranked 1st among all Iranian universities according to Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. THE has also ranked BNUT between 351st and 400th among world universities, 55th among the world's young universities, as well as 43rd among Asian universities.
The Sam M. Walton College of Business is the business college at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Created in 1926, the college is the second-largest college at the University, with over 5,000 undergraduate students as of Fall 2016. Walton College is known nationally for a strong emphasis on retail, finance, information systems, and supply chain management. The college has a close relationship with Walmart Stores, Inc., based in nearby Bentonville, Arkansas, and related vendor community.
The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences is the liberal arts college at the University of Arkansas. It is named for former University President and United States Senator J. William Fulbright. The College has 19 different academic departments, and is the largest school or college at the University. Fulbright College's Creative Writing and Translation programs rank among the top in the nation.
The Irwin and Joan Jacobs School of Engineering is an undergraduate and graduate-level engineering school offering BS, BA, MEng, MS, MAS and PhD degrees at the University of California, San Diego in San Diego, California. The Jacobs School of Engineering is the youngest engineering school of the nation's top ten, the largest by enrollment in the University of California system, as well as the largest engineering school on the West Coast and the ninth-largest in the country. More than thirty faculty have been named members of the National Academies. The current dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering is Albert P. Pisano.
