Ashuganj Power Station

Ashuganj Power Station is located near to the Titas Gas field and at the bank of river Meghna, Bangladesh. [1] [2] It consists of 1627 megawatt units. [3] An agreement was signed in 1966 with a foreign construction company to establish a Thermal Power Plant in Ashuganj. It is owned and operated by Ashuganj Power Station Company Ltd. [4] [5]

The Rampal Power Station is a 1320 megawatt coal-fired power station currently under construction at Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat District in Khulna, Bangladesh. The power plant is being constructed on an area of over 1834 acres of land, is situated 14 kilometres north of the world's largest mangrove forest Sundarbans which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It will be the country's largest power plant.

Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project is a coal-based thermal power plant located at Sivanpur village in Nabinagar taluk in Aurangabad district, Bihar. It was conceptualised in 1989 by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Satyendra Narayan Sinha who sent the proposal to set up a NTPC's super thermal power project at Nabinagar in Bihar's Aurangabad district to then Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi; but the project went into limbo as the following state governments failed to follow it. In 2007, Manmohan Singh's government finally put a stamp of approval on it.

The Payra 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant is a 1,320 megawatt coal-fired power station built in Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali District in southern Bangladesh. It is a joint venture between the North-West Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (NWPGCL) and China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC).

Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited is a Bangladesh government-owned energy company. The main objective of the company is to generate electricity mainly using coal. The company will undertake any scheme for construction of power plants under the Private Sector Power Generation Policy of Bangladesh, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy or any other policy framework of the government. The prime initiative of the company is to construct a 2X600 MW coal fired power plant at Matarbari and Dhalghata Union in Maheshkhali Upazilla of Cox's Bazar District. This project consists of construction of jetty and coal handling facilities for coal import, coal storage, power plant construction, township development, rural electrification and construction of transmission facilities and road communication. The eco-friendly 2x600MW Matarbari project is scheduled to be in operation in January 2024. Full swing operation of the company shall yield 5000 MW of power to the national grid by 2030. Md. Abdul Mottalib is the current managing director of the company.

Sylhet power plant popularly known as Kumargaon Power Plant also known as Kumargaon Power Station is a gas turbine power station in Sylhet Sadar Upazila, Sylhet District of Bangladesh. This plant is operated by Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). It has connected Sylhet district and some parts of Moulvibazar, Sunamganj, and Habiganj.
