Azrul Mahathir bin Aziz is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Speaker of the Penang State Legislative Assembly since August 2023 and Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bayan Lepas since May 2018. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a component party of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition. He has also served as the State Vice Chairman of AMANAH of Penang since October 2022 and served as the founding State Vice Youth Chief of AMANAH of Penang from 2015 to his promotion to the state vice chairmanship in October 2022. He is also presently the only AMANAH Penang MLA.
In the 2023 Penang state election, the ruling PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) retained the two-thirds supermajority in the Penang State Legislative Assembly and was reelected to power. Padang Kota MLA, State Chairman of PH and the Democratic Action Party (DAP) of Penang Chow Kon Yeow was reappointed the Chief Minister on 13 August 2023. Azrul Mahathir was nominated the Deputy Speaker of the Penang State Legislative Assembly by Chief Minister Chow and elected with a walkover on 29 August 2023. [1]
In the 2018 Penang state election, Azrul Mahathir made his electoral debut after being nominated by PH to contest for the Bayan Lepas state seat. He won the seat and was elected into the Penang State Legislative Assembly as the Bayan Lepas MLA for the first term after defeating Rusli Hashim of BN and Zarina Shinta Madar of Gagasan Sejahtera (GS) by a majority of 5,245 votes.
In the 2023 state election, Azrul Mahathir was renominated by PH to defend the Bayan Lepas state seat. He defended the seat and was reelected into the Penang State Legislative Assembly as the Bayan Lepas MLA for the second term after defeating the President of the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (GERAKAN) Dominic Lau Hoe Chai of Perikatan Nasional (PN) by a majority of 1,889 votes. Azrul Mahathir is married to his wife Norhailee Rasid. He owns 2 grocery shops namely the AMBA Ria in Bayan Lepas and AMBA Segar in Teluk Kumbar. AMBA stands for Azrul Mahathir Bin Aziz.
On 6 July 2023, Norhailee was aggressively hit twice on the head by a man at a grocery shop owned by Azrul Mahathir along Jalan Dato Ismail Hashim in Bayan Lepas after she approached a girl who was behaving suspiciously and ran away from the shop. The man also tried to punch Norhailee. The entire incident was captured by a closed-circuit television (CCTV). In response to the incident, Azrul Mahathir was not concerned about the alleged theft by the girl but he could not condone the attack on his wife. He also described it as unacceptable and therefore should be taken seriously. Norhailee then lodged a police report and the police added that they were investigating the case under Section 323/506 of Penal Code for causing hurt and criminal intimidation. [4] Later the day, the man was arrested by the police in Bayan Lepas and reprimanded from 6 to 9 July 2023 for 3 days to assist in the investigation. He was also identified as a 41-year-old man and having no criminal record. [5]

Mujahid bin Yusof Rawa, is a Malaysian politician who has served as Senator since May 2023. He served as the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Religious Affairs in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020 as well as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Parit Buntar from March 2008 to November 2022. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the PH coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a former component party of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition. He has also served as the 2nd Deputy President of AMANAH since December 2023 and State Chairman of PH of Perak since June 2021.
Dr. Afif bin Bahardin is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Taman Medan since August 2023. He served as Member of the Penang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administrations under Chief Ministers Lim Guan Eng and Chow Kon Yeow from May 2013 to his resignation in March 2020 as well as Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Seberang Jaya from May 2013 to March 2023. He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition and was a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the PH coalition. He has also served as Member of the Supreme Council of BERSATU since January 2024 and is the State Secretary of PN of Selangor. He also served as the Deputy Youth Chief of PKR from August 2014 to November 2018 and Deputy Division Chief of PKR of Permatang Pauh.

Bayan Lepas is a state constituency in Penang, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Penang State Legislative Assembly since 1959. It covers the southwestern corner of Penang Island, including the old quarter of the town of Bayan Lepas and fishing villages along the island's southern coast.
Adly bin Zahari is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of Defence in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister Mohamad Hasan since December 2022, Member of Parliament (MP) for Alor Gajah since November 2022 and Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bukit Katil since May 2018. He served as the 11th Chief Minister of Malacca from May 2018 to March 2020 and State Leader of the Opposition of Malacca from April 2020 to December 2022. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the PH coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a component party of formerly the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition. In AMANAH, he has served as its Vice-President since September 2021 and State Chairman of Malacca since August 2017. He was also the Treasurer-General of AMANAH prior to his promotion to the party vice presidency. He is also the sole Malacca AMANAH MLA.

The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support, leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority, the collapse of two successive coalition governments, and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government. This crisis ended in 2022 and Malaysian political crisis continued in the State of Sabah known as 2023 Kinabalu Move.
Saari bin Sungib is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Hulu Kelang from March 2008 to August 2023. He is a member, State Deputy Chairman of Selangor and Division Chief of Gombak of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a former component party of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition as well as member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a former component party of the Barisan Alternatif (BA) coalition. He is also the father of Anfaal Saari, the Member of the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO), Taman Templer MLA and Deputy Women Chief of AMANAH.
Teng Chang Yeow (Chinese: 鄧章耀; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tēng Chiong-iāu; born 12 December 1964 is a former Malaysian politician who served as the Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly for Padang Kota from 1995 to 2008. He was also the former Secretary-General of the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia, as well as the former Barisan Nasional Penang Chief.

He is a member, Youth Chief and State Chairman of Kedah of the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (GERAKAN), a component party of the PN coalition. He is also presently the only Chinese, non-Malay and GERAKAN Kedah EXCO Member and the only serving GERAKAN elected representative as well as the first GERAKAN candidate to win an election since Mah Siew Keong won the 2014 Telok Intan by-election.
Nazri bin Abdul Rahman is a Malaysian politician and engineer who has served as Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Simpang Jeram since September 2023. He is a member and Division Deputy Chief of Bakri of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He was Head of the Simpang Jeram Service Centre Economic Bureau and Head of the Engineering Department of the Muar Municipal Council (MPM). He is also presently the only AMANAH Johor MLA.
