B. Venkata Raghavulu is an Indian communist politician. He was the State Secretary of the last unified Andhra Pradesh State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), [1] till its bifurcation in March 2014 following the bifurcation of the state. He is also a Polit Buro member of that party. [2] [3]
CPI (M) State Secretary B V Raghavulu was born to Venkata Subbaiah and Punnamma couple in Pedamopadu village in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. Raghavulu completed his schooling. Later, he joined Andhra Christian College in Guntur for his intermediate education. [4] Then, he went to Bapatla and joined Bachelor of Science at the Bapatla Agricultural College. For various reasons, he was compelled to drop out of the course. Afterwards, he joined Kavali College for Bachelor of Arts course. When he was pursuing his final year course of graduation, emergency was declared in the country. After appearing for the final examinations, he left for Nellore as a full-time activist of the party.
During the emergency period, many top leaders of the party were either arrested or went underground themselves. This gave an opportunity to Raghavulu to manage the party office at his best.
The party later, during emergency period itself, sent him to Visakhapatnam. There he founded the student movement. While he was at Visakhapatnam, he completed a diploma in English and enrolled for Master of Arts in history. Up to December 1981, he was the office bearer for Students Federation of India.
Completing his M.A. in distinction, he pursued a research in economics as scholar. Meanwhile, party secretary of the Visakhapatnam unit expired succumbing to ill health. Very shortly after his death, the new secretary died in a road accident. It turned on Raghavulu to take over as secretary checking his research. In 1994 he was elected as state secretary of the Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU). [5]
At the state conference of the party in December 1997 in Nalgonda, Raghavulu was elected as the state secretary of the party, and remained in that office till March 2014, when two committees were formed for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, following the decision of bifurcation of the state.
It was widely reported in the media that Raghavulu has resigned [6] [7] to all posts [8] in the party other than primary membership, [9] on allegations [10] of his mishandling of organizational affairs including that of 10 TV. [11] Citing sources there were news reports that he was responsible for many of its party cadre being shunned out. [12] Sitaram Yechury clarified [13] in a press meet clarified that Polit Bureau discussed issues and that Raghavulu is in the Polit Bureau and will continue in the Polit Bureau.
Raghavulu married S. Punyavathi, one of his co-activists while he was doing his research at the Andhra University in Visakhapatnam. Punyavathi is now the state vice president of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions and was the general secretary of All India Democratic Women's Association. The couple are blessed with a daughter, Srujana who is married to Mohammed Zaheer her co-student at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) of Delhi.

Telugu, one of the classical languages of India used by majority of people, is an official language.
The Telugu Desam Party is an Indian regional political party with great influence in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It was founded by the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N. T. Rama Rao (N.T.R.) on 29 March 1982 and has focused on supporting Telugu speakers. The party has won a five-time majority in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and has emerged as the most successful political outfit in the state's history. It is currently the main opposition party in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Daggubati Purandeswari is an Indian politician from the state of Andhra Pradesh. Her eloquence, articulation and impassioned speeches have earned her the title of the "Sushma Swaraj of the South". She represented the Visakhapatnam constituency of Andhra Pradesh as a Member of Parliament of Indian National Congress in the 15th Lok Sabha of India. She defeated her opponent, Palla Srinivasa Rao of the Telugu Desam Party, by a margin of nearly 60,000 votes. She was made the Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2009 and subsequently the MoS in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2012. She had previously represented the Bapatla constituency in the 14th Lok Sabha on behalf of the Indian National Congress, beating D. Ramanaidu of the Telugu Desam Party by almost 90,000 votes. During that term she served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 7 March 2014 after resigning from the Indian National Congress as a mark of protest against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh that was favoured by the then United Progressive Alliance government. In 2014, she fought the Lok Sabha election on a BJP ticket from Rajampet and lost. Purandareswari was appointed BJP Mahila Morcha Prabhari. She continues as the appointed state in-charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Odisha unit since 13 November 2020.
Repalle is a constituency in Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh, representing the state legislative assembly in India. It is one of the seven assembly segments of Bapatla (SC), along with Vemuru, Bapatla, Parchur, Addanki, Chirala and Santhanuthalapadu. Anagani Satya Prasad is the present MLA of the constituency, who won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from TDP Party. As of 25 March 2019, there are a total of 194,748 electors in the constituency.

Known by his title of Andhra Ratna (Telugu: ఆంధ్ర రత్న, translates to "Jewel of Andhra" or "Gem of Andhra." Sri Duggirala Gopalakrishnayya, Gopalakrishnayya was the first Andhra leader to become secretary of the All India Congress Committee. Sri Duggirala Gopalakrishnayya, was a very captivating poet, speaker, songwriter, philosopher, singer and an extraordinary revolutionary with a philosophy of non-violence. Sri Nadimpalli Venkata Lakshmi Narasimha Rao worked in tandem with Sri Duggirala Gopalakrishnayya. For his exemplary work and sacrifices for freedom movement in Andhra, he was fondly conferred the name 'Andhra Ratna'
Kambhampati Hari Babu is an Indian politician and the current Governor of Mizoram, being the first person from divided Andhra Pradesh and first Telugu person serving as Governor of Mizoram in North East India. He was a member of parliament to the 16th Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He won the 2014 Indian general election being a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. He is former state unit President of Bharatiya Janata Party for Andhra Pradesh.

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is the civic body that governs the city of Visakhapatnam, largest city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Its jurisdiction encompasses an area of 681.96 km2 (263.31 sq mi). It is also part of the planning body of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority. Established in the year 1979, the executive power of the GVMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service officer appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The position is held by G. Lakshmisha. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari (YSRCP) was elected as the Mayor and Jiyyani Sridhar (YSRCP) as the Deputy Mayor by the newly elected general body in March 2021. In January 2021, the number of wards were increased to 98 from 81 earlier.

M. Abdul Gafoor is a CITU Andhra Pradesh State Secretary, All India CITU Vice President and CPM Central Committee Member, Founder Awwaz State President. Twice he was elected MLA from Kurnool, 1994, 2004, Member of the Legislative Assembly in Andhra Pradesh in the 1994 state assembly elections, winning the Kurnool constituency as a Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate. He had unsuccessfully contested the seat in the 1989 elections. In the 2004 elections, he won the seat again, with T. G. Venkatesh of the Telugu Desam Party being his nearest rival. He lost to Venkatesh, who was now a candidate of the Indian National Congress, from the same constituency in the elections of 2009.

The Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act, 2020 is an act of Andhra Pradesh Legislature aimed at the decentralisation of governance in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The bill was proposed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to establish three capitals at different places in the state namely Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Kurnool, which will serve as executive, legislative and judicial capitals respectively.
