Eddy Choong Most Promising Player of the Year

This award was created in 2008 following the decision by the BWF to split the "Eddy Choong Player of the Year" award into two different awards for male and female players respectively.

Lin Dan is a Chinese former professional badminton player. He is a two-time Olympic champion, five-time World champion, as well as a six-time All England champion. Widely regarded as the greatest badminton player of all time, by the age of 28 Lin had completed the "Super Grand Slam", having won what some consider to be the nine major titles in the badminton world: Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup, Super Series Masters Finals, All England Open, Asian Games, and Asian Championships, becoming the first and only player to achieve this feat. He also became the first men's singles player to retain the Olympic gold medal by winning in 2008 and successfully defending his title in 2012.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lee Hyun-il</span> South Korean badminton player

Lee Hyun-il is a former badminton player from South Korea. He is a former World and Asian Championships bronze medalist, and was part of South Korean team that won the 2003 Sudirman Cup as well the gold medals at the 2002 and 2014 Asian Games.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) Hall of Fame is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It honours both players and other contributors to the sport of badminton. The BWF Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization with the goal to preserve, celebrate, and inspire the sport of badminton around the world.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jan Ø. Jørgensen</span> Danish badminton player (born 1987)

Jan Østergaard Jørgensen is a Danish retired badminton player who played for SIF (Skovshoved) in the national league. He won the men's singles title at the 2014 European Championships, and was the bronze medalist at the 2015 World Championships. He joined the Denmark winning team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">P. V. Sindhu</span> Indian badminton player

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian badminton player. Considered one of India's most successful sportspersons, Sindhu has won medals at various tournaments such as the Olympics and on the BWF circuit, including a gold at the 2019 World Championships. She is the first and only Indian to become the badminton world champion and only the second individual athlete from India to win two consecutive medals at the Olympic Games. She rose to a career-high world ranking of no. 2 in April 2017.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ratchanok Intanon</span> Thai badminton player

Ratchanok Intanon is a Thai badminton player who became the first Thai to become No.1 in women's singles. She is known for her relaxed hitting motion and light footwork, which has been described as 'balletic' by commentators such as Gillian Clark. She became the world champion in women's singles in 2013.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tai Tzu-ying</span> Taiwanese badminton player (born 1994)

Tai Tzu-ying is a Taiwanese badminton player. At the age of 22, she became world No. 1 in the women's singles in December 2016, and she is the women's singles player who has held that title for the longest in BWF history, with 214 weeks. Tai was the women's singles silver medalist in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the gold medalist in 2017 Summer Universiade and at the 2018 Asian Games. She has won the year-end tournament BWF Superseries/World Tour Finals four times, and the All England Open thrice as of 2020. She has also won Asian Championships titles thrice in 2017, 2018 and 2023.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Nozomi Okuhara</span> Japanese badminton player

Nozomi Okuhara is a Japanese badminton player. A former World's number 1 in the BWF rankings for the women's singles, she is well known for her speed, agility and endurance. She won a bronze at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and gold medal at the 2017 World Championships.

Tang Jinhua is a Chinese retired badminton player who competed at the highest level of badminton tournaments during the second decade of the 2000s, winning numerous women's doubles and occasional mixed doubles events with a variety of partners. She is a graduate of Hunan University.

This is a list of the main career statistics of Malaysian professional badminton player, Lee Chong Wei. To date, Lee has won a total of sixty-nine BWF singles titles including a record 42 BWF Super Series singles titles, and a record 4 BWF Super Series Finals. He is the first men's singles player to have won every BWF Super Series Premier title. Lee is also a triple Silver Medalist in men's singles, having reached the finals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics. He is also a quadruple Silver Medalist at the BWF World Championships. However, he was stripped of his achievement as the runner-up at the 2014 BWF World Championships due to doping violations. Following that matter, he served an 8-month suspension from international competitions.

Tommy Sugiarto is an Indonesian badminton player who is a singles specialist. He was the bronze medalist at the 2014 World Championships. Sugiarto competed at the 2014 Asian Games and 2016 Summer Olympics.

Srikanth Kidambi is an Indian badminton player. A former world no. 1, Kidambi was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 2018. and the Arjuna award in 2015. In 2021, he became the first Indian to reach the World Championship final in the men's singles discipline.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Huang Yaqiong</span> Chinese badminton player (born 1994)

Huang Yaqiong is a Chinese badminton player who specializes in doubles. She won the prestigious All England Open in 2017 partnered with Lu Kai, and in 2019 with Zheng Siwei. Together with Lu, she emerged as the champion at the 2017 Asian Championships. With her current partner Zheng, she won the gold medal at the 2018 and 2022 Asian Games, and claimed the BWF World Championships titles in 2018, 2019, and 2022. Huang was made the Female Player of the Year by the BWF in 2018 and 2019.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Zheng Siwei</span> Chinese badminton player (born 1997)

Zheng Siwei is a Chinese badminton player specializing in doubles. Zheng is a three-time World Champion and two-time Asian Games gold medalist in the mixed doubles with his current partner Huang Yaqiong. He also helped the national team clinch the 2018 Thomas and 2019 Sudirman Cup.

Wendy Chen Hsuan-yu is an Australian badminton player who has represented her country at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif is a Malaysian badminton player. He competed in the international tournament as an independent player. He married an Indonesian badminton player Rusydina Antardayu Riodingin on 14 September 2019.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Seo Seung-jae</span> South Korean badminton player

Seo Seung-jae is a South Korean badminton player. He is the first South Korean player in 24 years to have won two gold medals in a single edition of the BWF World Championships, by winning the mixed and men's doubles event at the 2023 BWF World Championships, partnering with Chae Yoo-jung and Kang Min-hyuk respectively. He competed at the 2017 Sudirman Cup and helped the Korean national team to its fourth trophy.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kunlavut Vitidsarn</span> Thai badminton player

Kunlavut Vitidsarn is a Thai badminton player. He is the current men's singles World Champion as he won the gold medal at the 2023 World Championships. He was also three-times World Junior champion, winning in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Vitidsarn became the first men's singles player to win three World Junior Championships titles, joining Ratchanok Intanon and Chen Qingchen as a three-time winner of the World Junior title in the same discipline. He claimed the gold medal at the Asian Junior Championships in 2019, where he previously won a silver in 2018 and bronze in 2017. Vitidsarn participated at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, and was part of the team Omega took the silver medal in the mixed team event. He was named the 2020/2021 Eddy Choong Most Promising Player. In the senior category, he won the silver medal at the 2022 World Championships and, in the following year, the gold medal at the 2023 World Championships. He became the first Thai player to win the World Championships title in the men's singles category.

The 2019 BWF season was the overall badminton circuit organized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the 2019 badminton season to publish and promote the sport. The world badminton tournament in 2019 consisted of:

Tee Kai Wun is a Malaysian badminton player. He helped Malaysia win a silver medal in the 2017 BWF World Junior Championships mixed team event.
