Records, she was asked by veteran producer Quincy Jones to appear on his album Q's Jook Joint (1995), earning her Grammy Award nominations for their collaboration on "You Put a Move on My Heart" and "Slow Jams". Her self-titled debut album was released in 1998 and followed by a series of successful albums with Elektra Records, including A Nu Day (2000) and More (2004). Joseph Lewis Thomas, known mononymously as Joe, is an American R&B singer-songwriter and record producer. He signed to Polygram Records in 1992, and rose to prominence after releasing his debut album Everything the following year. He followed it with a series of successful albums under Jive Records, including All That I Am (1997), the international bestseller My Name Is Joe (2000) as well as the multi-certified albums Better Days (2001) and And Then... (2003). Several songs from these albums became hit singles on the pop and R&B record charts, including the number-one hit "Stutter", the top ten entries "All the Things ", "Don't Wanna Be a Player", and "I Wanna Know" as well as his collaborations "Faded Pictures", "Thank God I Found You" and "Still Not a Player".

Lloyd Polite Jr., is an American R&B singer. Born in New Orleans and raised in Decatur, he initially began his musical career as a member of the preteen-boy band N-Toon. The band disbanded in 2001 and Polite embarked on a solo career in 2003. He subsequently signed a record deal with American music executive Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. Records, under the aegis of Def Jam Recordings. In 2004, Polite released his solo debut single "Southside", the title-track from his debut album, Southside (2004). The single quickly charted on the US Billboard Hot 100, and became a top 40 hit. His second album Street Love, was released in 2007 and featured the top 20 hits "You" and "Get It Shawty".

Tremaine Aldon Neverson, known professionally as Trey Songz, is an American R&B singer and actor. Upon being discovered by record producer Troy Taylor, he signed to Atlantic Records in 2005 and released his debut studio album, I Gotta Make It in July of that year. His follow-up album, Trey Day (2007), spawned his first top 20 single, "Can't Help but Wait". Neverson released his third album, Ready, in 2009 and a single from the album, "Say Aah", peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. Ready was nominated for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 2008 Grammy Awards. The following year saw Neverson release his highest-charting song to date, "Bottoms Up", which preceded his fourth album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure (2010).

The song features Blige's alter ego, Brook Lynn, whom Blige created to give her lyrical freedom without the fear of damaging her own persona. "Be with Me" is the debut single co-written and performed by R&B singer J. Holiday released off of his debut album Back of My Lac'. It was to be released in early 2007, following the single. However, due to the single failing to top the charts peaking at #83 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and completely missing the Billboard Hot 100 all together, the album was pushed back to an unspecified fall release date, until finally being released October 2, 2007, following the success of his second single titled "Bed". The single's promotion fell through due to the merging of Capitol & Virgin Records; LeToya Luckett, Mims, Cherish, and Chingy had cancelled third singles, and Chingy was let go from the label, while J. Holiday's promotion for the song was also canceled.

The album was supported by the lone single, "It's Yours", which achieved moderate chart success.

Back of My Mind is the debut studio album by American R&B singer H.E.R. It was released on June 18, 2021, through RCA. The album features guest performances from YG, Lil Baby, Ty Dolla Sign, Yung Bleu, Cordae, DJ Khaled, Bryson Tiller and Chris Brown. The music was written and produced with a host of musicians, including Mike Will Made-It, Hit-Boy, Tiara Thomas, Kaytranada, Thundercat and Darkchild, amongst others.
