The Ballard Building is a historic building in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, in the U.S. state of Washington. It was built by the Fraternal Order of Eagles in the 1920s. [1] [2] The terracotta building has housed a community hospital, restaurants and other businesses. [3]

Captain William Rankin Ballard was a Seattle pioneer, banker, and land developer. He was one of the founders of the city of Ballard, Washington which was later annexed to the growing city of Seattle, Washington in 1907. As acting manager of the Seattle National Bank in the early 1890s, he facilitated the construction of what is now known as the Interurban Building in the Pioneer Square neighborhood.
The Ballard Carnegie Library is a historic Carnegie library in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, United States. The institution was preceded by a freeholders' library in the 1860s, which was eventually replaced in 1901 by a reading room organized and funded by a women's group. Various funds including a $15,000 grant were used to create a new library for Ballard, then an independent city. The library opened to the public on June 24, 1904. It was the first major branch of the Seattle public library system after Ballard was annexed by Seattle in 1907, and also employed one of the first African American librarians in Seattle.
Red Mill Burgers is an American restaurant in Seattle, Washington with locations in the Phinney Ridge, Interbay and Ballard neighborhoods. The first Red Mill opened in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in 1937, but eventually closed down in 1967. It reopened with the new owners in Phinney Ridge in 1994 and Interbay in 1998. A third location opened in Ballard near the Ballard Locks in late 2011.
