Bangladesh Basketball Federation is the national organization for basketball and is responsible for governing the sport in Bangladesh. [1] Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin is president and Abhijit Sarker is the general secretary. of the federation. [2]

History

Bangladesh Basketball Federation was established in 1972 under the National Sports Council. [3] It is an associate member of FIBA (Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur). [4] The federation owns the Dhanmondi Wooden Floor Gymnasium, the only active basketball gymnasium in Bangladesh. It is set to lose the ground to the proposed Sheikh Kamal Sports Complex. [5]

Bangladesh Olympics Association suspended Sabuj Miah, national women's basketball team coach, over allegations him assaulting a female player in November 2019. [6]

The 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League was the 12th season of the Bangladesh Premier League since its establishment in 2007. The 2019–20 season is Bashundhara Kings's 3rd professional season since its creation in 2013, and its second consecutive season in the top-flight of Bangladesh football. The season began on 13 February 2020 and was suspended on 15 March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Bangladesh. On 17 May 2020, the league was declared void by the BFF executive committee.

The 2019-20 Bangladesh Championship League was 8th edition of the league since its founded 2012 by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). A total 13 teams would've participated in the league. The league would've commenced from 28 March 2020. On 16 March 2020, Bangladesh Football Federation suspended all competition, including this league, due to the coronavirus pandemic. On 20 May 2020, the Federation and Professional Football League Committee officially cancelled this season of the league.
