The Bangladesh cricket team toured India in February 2017 to play one Test match. [1] [2] It was the first time that Bangladesh toured India. [3] Initially the tour was scheduled to take place in August 2016, but with other commitments made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that the first week of February looked more likely. [4] The date of the Test was confirmed in August 2016. [5] In January 2017 the BCCI moved the date back by one day. [6] The Decision Review System (DRS) was used in the Test match. [7]

Ahead of the Test match, there was a two-day tour match between India A and Bangladesh. [8] Bangladesh's captain Mushfiqur Rahim downplayed the historic nature of the tour saying "we want to play in such a way that India invites again and again. This to me is just another Test match". [9] India won the Test match by 208 runs. [10]

During the Test match, India set several individual and team records. In their first innings, both Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli set individual batting records. Pujara passed the total for the most runs by a batsman in an Indian first-class season, with a total of 1,605. [11] The previous record was 1,604 runs, set by Chandu Borde in the 1964–65 season. [11] Kohli set a new record for the most Test runs in a home season, with 1,168. [12] Virender Sehwag held the old record, when he made 1,105 runs in the 2004–05 season. [12] Kohli also became the first player to score a double-century in four consecutive Test series. The previous best was three consecutive series, held jointly by Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid. [12] Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest player, in terms of number of Tests, to take 250 wickets. He achieved it in 45 matches, beating the previous quickest of 48 Tests, set by Dennis Lillee. India's first innings total of 687 declared was the first time that a team had made a score of 600 plus in three consecutive innings in Tests. [12] Their win in this Test gave them their sixth consecutive series win, their best in Tests. The streak started with a series win against Sri Lanka in September 2015. [14] With this series win against Bangladesh, it gave Virat Kohli his nineteenth successive Test without a defeat, the most for any captain of India. [14]

For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim became their fourth player to reach 3,000 runs in Tests. [15] By the end of the match, he was Bangladesh's third-highest run-scorer in Tests, moving ahead of Habibul Bashar. [15]

Bangladesh's Imrul Kayes was injured during the tour match and was replaced by Mosaddek Hossain. [18] India's Amit Mishra suffered an injury during the final Twenty20 International match against England on 1 February. He was replaced by Kuldeep Yadav. [19]

The English cricket team toured India between November 2016 and January 2017 to play five Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the dates of the tour in July 2016. India last hosted a five-Test series in 1986–87 against Pakistan.

The Australian cricket team toured India in February and March 2017 playing four Test matches. India won the series 2–1. With the series victory, India held all the series titles against all of the other Test sides at the same time.

The India cricket team toured the West Indies in June and July 2017 to play five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a Twenty20 International (T20I) match. India won the ODI series 3–1. The West Indies won the one-off T20I match by 9 wickets.

The Australia cricket team toured India in September and October 2017 to play five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the full dates in September 2017. Ahead of the ODIs, Australia played a 50-over warm-up match against India's Board President XI, with Australia winning by 103 runs. India won the ODI series 4–1 and returned to the top of the ICC ODI Championship. In accordance with the International Cricket Council's (ICC) new playing conditions, the Decision Review System (DRS) was used for the first time in a T20I match in this series. The T20I series was drawn 1–1, with the third match called off due to a wet outfield.

The India cricket team toured South Africa in January and February 2018 to play three Tests, six One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. In January 2017, Cricket South Africa (CSA) revealed that this tour would replace the scheduled visit by Sri Lanka due to costs and scheduling congestion. The Test series was played for the Freedom Trophy, with South Africa winning the trophy following victories in the first two Tests. South Africa went on to win the Test series 2–1. It was the first Test series of three matches or more in which all 40 wickets fell in each match of the series. With India's win the third Test, they retained the number one place in the ICC Test Championship, taking an unassailable lead before the April 2018 cut-off date for next season's rankings.

The Sri Lanka cricket team toured India in November and December 2017. The original schedule had the tour consisting of three Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and one Twenty20 International (T20I) match starting in February 2018.

The India cricket team toured Australia from November 2018 to January 2019 to play four Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Initially, the Test match at the Adelaide Oval was planned to be a day/night fixture, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declined the offer from Cricket Australia to play the match under lights. In April 2018, the Western Australian Cricket Association confirmed that the Perth Stadium would host its first ever Test match. During the second Test, it became the tenth venue in Australia to host a Test match.

The West Indies cricket team toured India from September to November 2018 to play two Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Ahead of the Test series, there was a two-day practice match in Vadodara.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured India in November 2019 to play two Test and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. It was the second time that Bangladesh toured India to play a Test series, and the first time that Bangladesh played a T20I series against India in India. The Test series also featured the first day/night match to be played by either side.

The Australia cricket team toured India in January 2020 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches. Normally, Australia would have played the matches at home, but international fixture congestion caused the ODIs to be brought forward. India won the series 2–1, after losing the opening match by ten wickets. During the third and final ODI of the series, Virat Kohli scored his 11,208th run across all formats as a captain in international cricket, the most by a batsman for India.

The India cricket team toured Australia from November 2020 to January 2021 to play four Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship, and the ODI series formed part of the inaugural ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

On 20 October 2022 Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the fixture. However, on 23 November, the venue of the third ODI was shifted from Mirpur to Chittagong due to political reasons.

The Sri Lankan cricket team toured India in February and March 2022 to play two Test and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. In September 2021, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the schedule for the tour. In January 2022, Sri Lanka Cricket made a request to play the T20I matches first, as the T20I squad would be coming straight from their tour of Australia. In early February, the change was agreed by both boards, with Bangalore hosting a day/night Test match, with the BCCI confirming the revised tour schedule.

The Australian cricket team toured India in September 2022 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches as a preparatory series before 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. They later returned in February and March 2023 to play four Test and three One Day International (ODI) matches. The Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship.
