Luxembourg has a long tradition of beer brewing, dating back to at least 1300. [1] Although there used to be more than 12 local breweries in Luxembourg in the early 1950s, this number has come down to only three big breweries remaining in the early 2010s. [2] The three big breweries still active today are: Brasserie Nationale, producing Bofferding and Battin , Brasserie de Luxembourg (owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev), producing Diekirch and Mousel, and Brasserie Simon, producing Simon and Ourdaller (and Okult).
Although there has been a resurgence of several minor breweries in Luxembourg during the early 2000s (mostly local microbreweries producing craft beer), the largest brewery remains Brasserie Nationale whose brands Bofferding and Battin together make up for 58% of Luxembourg's beer consumption as of 2013. [3] The main beer in Luxembourg is lager, drunk in over 95% of the cases.[ citation needed ]
The first beer brewery in Luxembourg was probably established around 1300 by monks in Neimënster Abbey, in the Grund district in Luxembourg City. [1]

Brasserie Nationale is the largest brewery in Luxembourg, based in Bascharage. They also export to Belgium, France, China, and since 2014 to the United States. They brew beer under the brand name Bofferding and since taking over in 2004 Battin.
Beer in Africa, especially lager, is produced commercially in most African countries, and indigenous people also make varieties of beer. Beer is served in various locales, from neighbourhood shebeens to upscale bars. Many countries have standardized beer bottle sizes, which are cleaned and re-used, so when buying beer at a store, people often must pay a deposit on the bottle and the price of the beer. An alternative to glass-bottle beers is local beer sold in tetra-pak style paper cartons.
Beer, called maekju in Korean, was first introduced to Korea in the early 20th century. Seoul's first brewery opened in 1908. Two current major breweries date back to the 1930s. The third brewery established in Korea, Jinro Coors Brewery, was founded in the 1990s. It was later acquired by Oriental Breweries (OB). Hite Breweries's former name was Chosun Breweries, which was established in 1933. The company changed its name to Hite Breweries in 1998. OB Breweries established as Showa Kirin Breweries in 1933. The company changed its name to OB Breweries in 1995.

Brasserie Battin, is a Luxembourgish brewery founded by Charles Battin in 1937 in the city of Esch-Alzette. Since 2004 Brasserie Nationale owns Brasserie Battin; since 2005 the beer brand Battin is brewed in Bascharage.
Brasserie de Dudelange was a Luxembourgish brewery which was founded by Jean-Pierre Steyer in 1937 and brewed in the city of Dudelange. In 1964 it was taken over by Brasserie Funck-Bricher. Brewing in Dudelange as well as producing beer under the Brasserie de Dudelange brand name stopped.
Brasserie de Luxembourg is the second largest brewery in Luxembourg, based in Diekirch. They also export to Belgium. They brew beer under the brand name Diekirch and Mousel.
Grand Brewing Luxembourg, is a Luxembourgish brewery founded by Mark Hatherly in 2014.
Clausel is a Luxembourgish beer brand founded by microbrewery Letzebuerger Stad Brauerei in 2007.
La Goudale is a bière de garde which was originally brewed in Douai by Les Brasseurs de Gayant. The brewery has since moved to Arques.
Switzerland has a long tradition of brewing, with significant domestic beer production and a growing craft brewing sector.
The Bière du Boxer SA is the successor company of the Brasserie du Boxer S.A, which was founded in 1960 in Lausanne. The brewery moved to its new location in Yverdon-les-Bains at the end of March 2012.
