Colin James Barnett is a former Australian politician who was the 29th Premier of Western Australia. He concurrently served as the state's Treasurer at several points during his tenure and had previously held various other portfolios in Western Australia's Court–Cowan Ministry.
The electoral district of Capel was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Western Australia. The district was named for the South West town of Capel,located between Bunbury and Busselton,which fell within its borders. The seat was abolished after only one term at the 2007 redistribution,taking effect from the 2008 election due to the one vote one value legislation. Most parts of the seat now fall within the new seat of Collie-Preston,which is regarded as a marginal Labor seat by Antony Green based on 2005 figures,with the Busselton portions becoming part of Vasse.
Vasse is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in Western Australia. Vasse is based in the South West region of the state,centred on the town of Busselton and is named for the Vasse River. It has been a safe seat for the Liberal Party at all times since its creation,including as its previous incarnation,Sussex.

He served as a minister in the governments of Richard Court and Colin Barnett,and was deputy premier to Barnett from 2008 to 2016. Hames retired from parliament at the 2017 state election.

Adele Simone Carles is a former Australian politician. She was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2009 to 2013,representing the electorate of Fremantle. She was initially elected as a Greens WA member at the 2009 Fremantle state by-election,becoming the first Greens candidate to be elected to an Australian state lower house of parliament in a single-member seat. However,she resigned from the Greens on 6 May 2010 to sit as an independent. In November 2010,Carles agreed to guarantee confidence and supply votes for the incumbent Colin Barnett Liberal minority government. She ran for re-election as an independent at the 2013 state election,but was defeated,finishing fourth behind the Labor,Liberal and Greens candidates with 5.49% of the vote.
William Richard Marmion is an Australian politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia between 2008 and 2021,representing the seat of Nedlands. He served as a minister in the government of Colin Barnett from 2010 to 2017. He later served as deputy leader of the Liberal Party of Australia from 2019 to 2020.

A by-election for the seat of Vasse in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly was held on 18 October 2014. The by-election was triggered by the resignation of Liberal MLA and former Liberal leader Troy Buswell on 3 September 2014,who won the seat at the 2013 election with a 57.3 percent primary and a 71.2 percent two-party vote. It was held on the same day as the 2014 Casuarina by-election in the Northern Territory.
Elizabeth Mettam is an Australian politician. She has been the Liberal member for Vasse in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly since a by-election held on 18 October 2014. She is the Deputy Leader of the Western Australian Liberal Party since November 2020,and was acting leader of the party for ten days in March 2021,after party leader Zak Kirkup lost his seat in the 2021 state election. In the election,she was one of only two Liberal lower house MLAs to retain their seat,the other being party leader David Honey.
Barry Roy Blaikie was an Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1971 to 1996,representing the seat of Vasse.
A by-election for the seat of Victoria Park in the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia was held on 10 February 1945. It was triggered by the death of the sitting member,Howard Raphael of the Labor Party,on 9 December 1944. The election was won by an independent candidate,William Read,who finished with 56.7 percent of the two-candidate-preferred vote. Outside of Read's victory,the election was also notable as the first in Western Australia to be contested by the newly established Liberal Party.
A by-election for the seat of Dale in the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia was held on 7 May 1988. It was triggered by the resignation of Cyril Rushton on 25 February 1988. The seat was retained by the Liberal Party,with their candidate,Fred Tubby,winning 59.1 percent of the two-candidate-preferred (2CP) vote. The Labor Party did not stand at the election,despite having lost the seat by less than 400 votes at the 1986 state election. A former Labor candidate,Michael Marsh,won 40.9 percent of the 2CP vote standing as an independent.
