Bigfork Village Hall is a historic fieldstone municipal hall built in 1936 with Works Progress Administration funds to provide a government and community center in Bigfork, Minnesota, United States. [1] It remains at its original location on Minnesota State Highway 38 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [2]

Works Progress Administration largest and most ambitious United States federal government New Deal agency

The Works Progress Administration was an American New Deal agency, employing millions of people to carry out public works projects, including the construction of public buildings and roads. It was established on May 6, 1935, by Executive Order 7034. In a much smaller project, Federal Project Number One, the WPA employed musicians, artists, writers, actors and directors in large arts, drama, media, and literacy projects. The four projects dedicated to these were: the Federal Writers’ Project (FWP), the Historical Records Survey (HRS), the Federal Theatre Project (FTP), the Federal Music Project (FMP), and the Federal Art Project (FAP). In the Historical Records Survey, for instance, many former slaves in the South were interviewed; these documents are of great importance for American history. Theater and music groups toured throughout America, and gave more than 225,000 performances. Archaeological investigations under the WPA were influential in the rediscovery of pre-Columbian Native American cultures, and the development of professional archaeology in the US.

Bigfork is a city in Itasca County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 446 at the 2010 census. Scenic State Park is nearby.

Minnesota State Highway 38 (MN 38) is a highway in north-central Minnesota, which runs from its intersection with U.S. Highway 2 in Grand Rapids and continues north to its northern terminus at its intersection with State Highway 1 in Effie.

Kimball City Hall

Kimball City Hall is the seat of local government for Kimball, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1908 when the community was still a village known as Kimball Prairie. When it first opened the hall housed offices for local government, professionals, and the telephone utility, as well as a public library and a municipal theater. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 as Kimball Prairie Village Hall for its local significance in the theme of politics/government. It was nominated for embodying the importance the community placed on local government and public services in the early 20th century.
