Bill Johnson (born June 23, 1955) is an American football coach and former defensive lineman who is the Defensive line coach for the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League (UFL). He was recently the defensive line coach for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL.
Johnson began his coaching career at Northwestern State in Louisiana as a graduate assistant before becoming a defensive ends/linebackers coach at the school. He then served as defensive line coach and also outside linebackers coach at McNeese State. [1]
Johnson spent one season at Miami before returning to Louisiana as the defensive line coach at Louisiana Tech. He then spent two seasons as defensive line coach at Arkansas before moving to Texas A&M as their defensive line coach. He then returned to Arkansas as their defensive line coach for one season before moving to the NFL. [1] He served as defensive line coach at LSU from 2019 to 2020. [2] Johnson's intentions to retire following the 2020 season were made public on December 21, 2020, [3] [4] but he stayed on staff at LSU for the 2021 season as a defensive analyst.
Johnson has served as a defensive line coach for the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Rams, and Birmingham Stallions of the USFL. [5] [6]
In 2022, Johnson joined the XFL as the defensive line coach for the Houston Roughnecks. On January 1, 2024, it was announced the Roughnecks staff would not be a part of the UFL Merger. [7]
On January 9, 2024, Johnson became a part of the Stallions Staff as the Defensive Line coach. [8]
Harold Wade Phillips is an American football coach who is currently the head coach of the San Antonio Brahmas of the United Football League (UFL). He has served as head coach of the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and Houston Roughnecks. He has also served as interim head coach for the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and the Houston Texans. Additionally, Phillips has long been considered to be among the best defensive coordinators in the NFL. In his long career, he has served as defensive coordinator in eight separate stints with seven different franchises. Multiple players under Phillips' system have won Defensive Player of the Year: Reggie White, Bryce Paup, Bruce Smith, J. J. Watt and Aaron Donald. Others under Phillips have won Defensive Rookie of the Year: Mike Croel and Shawne Merriman. In Phillips' lone Super Bowl victory, a defensive player would be named Super Bowl MVP: Von Miller.
James Donald Haslett is an American football coach and former linebacker who was most recently the head coach of the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL. He played college football for the IUP Crimson Hawks before being drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 1979 NFL Draft; he went on to be named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

In 2009, he was the defensive coordinator for the New York Giants. He had stints with the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions before returning to NCAA football at Boston College in 2018. After two years there, he was hired by the Air Force Academy to be their new defensive line coach beginning in 2020. Sheridan in 2023 started coaching at his alma mater De La Salle Collegiate High School in Warren, Michigan
Mark Criner is an American football coach. He currently serves as the outside linebackers coach for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles football team. At the college football level, he served defensive coordinator for six seasons at the University of Idaho, and also held the same position at Middle Tennessee, Cincinnati, Portland State, the original XFL's Las Vegas Outlaws, and CSU–Pueblo. He has also worked as a defensive assistant at Minnesota, Eastern Michigan, Utah State, Lamar, LSU, the Alliance of American Football's Atlanta Legends, and Tulane. He was also the linebackers coach and assistant special teams coach for the Seattle Dragons.

The Houston Roughnecks are a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The Roughnecks compete in the United Football League (UFL). The team is owned-and-operated by Dwayne Johnson's Alpha Acquico and Fox Corporation. The team was a founding member of the USFL, as the Houston Gamblers in 2022, named after the 1980s USFL team of the same name. Though named after the city of Houston, the 2020s Gamblers never played there under that brand, instead playing its home games as the guest of other USFL teams in Birmingham, Alabama in 2022 and Memphis, Tennessee in 2023. When the USFL and XFL merged to form the UFL in 2024, the Gamblers took over the branding of the original Houston Roughnecks that had played the 2020 and 2023 seasons in the XFL and will play in Houston at Rice Stadium.

The team is owned-and-operated by Dwayne Johnson's Alpha Acquico and Fox Corporation. The Brahmas play their home games at the Alamodome. The Brahmas have a franchise regular season record of 6-8 (0.428), the highest win percentage among UFL teams as of its 2024 season.
The 2024 UFL season was the first season of the United Football League, which was created following the merger of the XFL and USFL, and the fifth season in the combined history of the two leagues, following the 2020 XFL season, 2022 USFL season, and separate 2023 seasons for both the USFL and XFL.
