Birth of Violence is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe. Announced on June 18, 2019, [17] the first single, "The Mother Road", was released the same day. [18] The second single, "American Darkness", was released on July 17. [19]

Contents

The album was written and recorded in seclusion at her home in Northern California, with Wolfe describing it as having more of a "folk leaning sound" in an effort to return to her folk roots. It was released by Sargent House on September 13, 2019. [20] [21]

"Alligator" is a song by Icelandic indie folk group Of Monsters and Men. It was released on 3 May 2019 by Republic Records as the lead single for their third studio album Fever Dream (2019). Written by Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir and produced by the band and Rich Costey, "Alligator" is an uplifting yet aggressive indie rock, folk-pop, punk rock and electronic rock track about trying to break free from disillusion and confusion. Although its high energy, drums and forceful vocal performances recall the group's early sound, it is absent of their typical folk stylings. "Alligator" was well-received by reviewers of Fever Dream, who expressed disappointment that most of the album did not follow its style and sound. Miss Anthropocene is the fifth studio album by Canadian musician Grimes, released on February 21, 2020. It marked her first album in over four years, after the release of 2015's Art Angels. The album was officially announced on March 19, 2019. The name of the album is a pun on the feminine title "Miss", and the words "misanthrope" and "Anthropocene", a neologism popularised in the year 2000 by Paul J. Crutzen that was proposed to denote the current geological age the Earth is in. The album is a loose concept album about an "anthropomorphic goddess of climate change" inspired by Roman mythology and villainy. Miss Anthropocene is Grimes' final album on record label 4AD, to which she has been signed since 2012. The album is darker in style than Grimes' 2015 album Art Angels, containing inspiration from the sounds of industrial music.
