Bloomington Kennedy High School

John F. Kennedy High School is one of two public high schools located in Bloomington, Minnesota, United States. Named after former president John F. Kennedy, it was opened in 1965 [3] due to the rapid growth of Bloomington at the time.

Athletics

The school had been a member of the Lake Conference since the school opened but left the Lake Conference after the 2009–10 school year to become part of the new South Suburban Conference. In 2014, Kennedy joined the new Metro West Conference. In 2022, Kennedy joined the Tri-Metro Conference.

Performing arts

Kennedy has two competitive show choirs, the mixed-gender "Rhythm in Gold", and the intermediate treble group "East Side Rhythm", which debuted during the 2022 competitive season under the name "Blue and Gold Velvet". [4] The program also hosts an annual competition. [5] It also has a large instrumental music department, divided into a band section and an orchestra. [6]

Peter Hans Docter is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and animator. He has served as the chief creative officer (CCO) of Pixar Animation Studios since 2018, and is best known for directing the animated feature films Monsters, Inc. (2001), Up (2009), Inside Out (2015), and Soul (2020). He has been nominated for nine Oscars and has won three for Best Animated Feature—for Up, Inside Out and Soul—making him the first person in history to win the category three times. He has also been nominated for nine Annie Awards, a BAFTA Children's Film Award and a Hochi Film Award. He has described himself as a "geeky kid from Minnesota who likes to draw cartoons".

Thomas Jefferson High School, or simply Jefferson High School, is one of the two high schools in Bloomington, Minnesota, United States Independent School District No. 271. It is located at 102nd Street and France Avenue on the suburb's southwest side, and is part of the Bloomington Public Schools district. About 1,600 students attend in grades 9 through 12. The mascot is a Jaguar.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers wrestling program is an intercollegiate varsity sport at the University of Minnesota. They are a member of the Big Ten Conference and NCAA. Wrestling began at Minnesota in 1910, but the first formal dual meet was not until 1921 when coach Frank Gilman led the team to a victory over Wisconsin. The Gophers have won the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships team title three times, in 2001, 2002, and 2007.

John Morgan is an American former wrestler. He competed in the men's Greco-Roman 82 kg at the 1988 Olympics, placing 7th. He was a four time national champion (1988-1991), member of the U.S. World Team (1989-1991), and a four-time All-American. He was also a 1981 Minnesota State High School wrestling champion at 155 pounds.

Marty Morgan is a former American wrestler. He was the 1991 NCAA National Champion and a 3-time All-American in college.

Gordy Morgan is an American former wrestler. He wrestled in the 74kg weight class at the 1996 Olympics, finishing ninth, and was a 1990 and 1993–95 world team member. He was a 3-time National Greco-Roman champion. In NCAA competition, he was the 1989 Big Ten champion in the 158 pound class and an NCAA All-American. He was also a 1985 Minnesota State High School champion in the 155 pound class.
