Stephenson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2020 United States Census, it had a population of 44,630. Its county seat is Freeport.
Benjamin Stephenson was the Congressional Delegate for the Illinois Territory from 1814 until 1817, and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention that made it possible for Illinois to become a state.
