Boring Road (officially Jai Prakash Narayan Path), [1] is an area in Patna, India. It encompasses the majority of residence of retired IAS and IPS services officers along with several Head Branches of showrooms and business entities. It's a posh area in Patna with the most expensive real estate prices in Patna. It starts from the corner of Patna Women's College as an intersection to Bailey Road near Patna High Court. It ends at the end of A N College or the famous Pani Tanki. [2] Almost 2 km in Length, Boring Road serves a number of colonies on left and right. Nageshwar Colony, Sri Krishna Puri, North Sri Krishna Puri are the main colonies of Patna situated adjacent to Boring Road.

It is a VIP area, most of big coaching centre are situated there. It is a working-class neighbourhood geographically located in the Northern part of city of Patna. Formerly the centre of the banking industry in Patna[ when? ] it has become progressively dominated by expensive shops. Boring Road (along with Frazer Road) is considered Patna's most upmarket shopping area. It is one of the well known commercial area of the city. PIN code include 800001, the area is patrolled by the Sri Krishna Puri PS of Patna Police. [3] [4]

History

Originally a residential street it became the site of many British government officials houses and large office buildings during the early 20th century. Most of these have since been demolished but some have been converted to other uses. The streets in the neighbourhood were laid in the mid-1980s and by the late 20th century Boring Road was the centre of the fashionable residential part of town. [5]

Overview

Boring Road is a vital commercial and residential area of the city. It is almost 3 km away from Patna railway station and the same distance from Patna Airport. [6] Boring Road has emerged as one of the favorite commercial destination in Patna. From corporate offices to retail shops, restaurants and eateries, number of car showrooms (Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki and Honda) doctors and diagnostic clinics and much more it engulfs on both side. The demarcation between residential and commercial properties on this road of Patna has become non existent. Boring road is flagged by numerous commercial cum residential apartments. Boring road is also another educational Hub of Patna with Patna Women's College and A N College at its two ends. A number of cram schools and schools are spread all over Boring Road.Many new coaching institutes for IITs have opened in Boring Canal Road.

Problems

With so many facilities spread only within 2 km, the area is densely populated. Heavy traffic is witnessed always at Boring Road square. [7]

It emerges from the South West Corner of Gandhi Maidan. It merges with Gandhi Maidan Marg, which takes a full circle of the Gandhi Maidan. Fraser Road passes through Dakbangla Chauraha, which is an important crossing in the city. The area around Frazer Road, including New Dak Bangla Road, Exhibition Road, and S P Verma Road has big brands names in marketing and covers all type of shops. Frazer Road is a location for hotels, restaurants, bars, and high-street stores in the capital of the Indian state of Bihar. The area is served by Kotwali PS under Patna Police.

Sri Krishna Nagar, Buddha colony and Patna Women's College mark other boundaries of Kidwaipuri. This area is under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station of Patna Police.

Exhibition Road is one of the most important thoroughfare and Central business district in Patna, Bihar, India. It is a commercial center located in the heart of the city. It connects Gandhi Maidan Marg with the Chiraiyatand Flyover. It runs in parallel to the Frazer Road, east to the New Dak Bungalow.

Buddha Colony is a mixed residential neighbourhood in Patna, the capital city of Bihar. It is encircled by East Boring Canal Road, Rajapur- Bansghat road, Sri Krishna Nagar and Mandiri-Chakaram. It is a spacious residential colony, with broad roads and lanes. The area is served by Buddha Colony police station under Patna Police.

Daroga Prasad Rai Road, formerly Serpentine Road, is major thoroughfare, which runs through the upscale part of Western Patna in India. Serpentine Road is a residential street, which connects Hartali Mor and Beer Chand Patel Marg. The area is served by Shastrinagar Police Station under Patna Police. It is named after Daroga Prasad Rai, the former chief minister of Bihar.

Dak Bungalow Crossing is a major commercial intersection, entertainment center and neighborhood in the central section of Patna. It is located at the junction of Bailey Road and Fraser Road. It is one of the busiest pedestrian and automobile areas in the city of Patna. Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Commercial Complex is located on the south west corner of the cross road - which was the erstwhile location of historic Dak Bungalow of Patna. South east corner has historic departmental stores of Patna such as Roshan Brothers, J.G.Carr & Sons and Khanna Stores. Multiple showrooms and shops are lined up on all sides of the crossroad.
