Nurmagomed Magomedsandovich Shanavazov, is a Soviet Dagestani former boxer. He is best known for handling Riddick Bowe his first defeat at an international competition. An ethnic Dargin hailing from Dagestan, Shanavazov won the Light Heavyweight Silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics for the Soviet Union. He was training at the Dynamo sports society in Makhachkala.
Damir Škaro is a former Croatian amateur boxer who won the Light Heavyweight Bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul for Yugoslavia, as well as a Croatian politician. He also competed at the 1980 Olympic Games and the 1984 Olympic Games.
