Cosimo Pinto (born 14 March 1943) is an Italian retired Amateur boxer who won a gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics. [1] Contrary to most of his teammates he remained an amateur and won a bronze medal at the 1967 European championships.
Pinto started his boxing training after his military service in 1962. He was inspired by the 1960 Summer Olympics bronze medallist Giulio Saraudi. A year into his career, in 1963 Pinto won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in his home country and a few months later he travelled to Tokyo and won the Pre-Olympic tournament via knockout over Tadayuki Maruyama.
The following year in the Olympics, Pinto had a fairly easy path to the final but then faced Aleksei Kiselyov, who proved he was a tough adversary in the preliminary bouts. The fight played out and turned into a negative incident. Two judges gave the contest to the Italian by a single point, while the other three judges had the two men level with 59 points. Two of the tied judges gave the decision to Kiselyov but the third judge gave it Pinto thus, crowning him the Olympic gold medal. [2]

Pinto won two Italian boxing championships. The first being in 1965 and the second in 1967. He was bronze medal winner at the 1967 European Championships held in Rome. In 1968, right before the Olympics, Pinto retired from boxing at the age of 25. [4]
After his retirement, Pinto worked in a bank for many years. [5]
Joel Casamayor Johnson is a Cuban American former professional boxer who competed from 1996 to 2011. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the WBA super featherweight title from 2000 to 2002; and the WBC, Ring magazine and lineal lightweight titles between 2006 and 2008. As an amateur, Casamayor won a gold medal in the bantamweight division at the 1992 Olympics, after which he defected to the United States on the eve of the 1996 Olympics.
Patrizio Oliva is an Italian former professional boxer, who won the gold medal in the light welterweight division at the 1980 Moscow Olympics as an amateur and the WBA light welterweight title as a professional.
Pentti Olavi Hämäläinen was a Finnish boxer. He competed at the 1952 and 1956 Olympics and won a gold and a bronze medal, respectively. He won two more bronze medals at European championships in 1951 and 1955. Domestically he won six Finnish titles between 1951 and 1956, two in flyweight, two in bantamweight and two in featherweight division. After the 1956 Olympics he turned professional and won five consecutive bouts. He lost his sixth bout in 1959 and retired from boxing, after which he worked as a mechanic and a policeman. Four of his brothers also competed in boxing at the national level. Pentti Hämäläinen died in 1984, aged 54, of undisclosed causes.
Zou Shiming is a Chinese former boxer and two-time Olympic champion. In amateur boxing, he is China's most successful boxer of all time. In the light-flyweight division, he won three consecutive Olympic medals, as well as three World Amateur Boxing Championships gold medals in 2005, 2007 and 2011. He competed in professional boxing from 2013 to 2017 and held the WBO flyweight title from 2016 to 2017.

Competing for the Soviet Union in light-heavyweight and middleweight divisions he won silver medals at the 1964 and 1968 Olympics and at the 1967 European championships, losing all three finals by a close decision. He won the World Army Championships in 1958, 1961, 1962 and 1966. Kiselyov was an aggressive southpaw boxer who won many bouts by a strong counterattacking blow to the body with his left hand.
Vikas Krishan Yadav is an Indian boxer from Bhiwani district in Haryana, the hub of some of India's best boxers. He won a gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games in the Lightweight category and a gold medal in 75 kg weight category at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He is one of the best boxers of India. He also boxed professionally.
Rudi Lubbers is a Dutch retired professional boxer who competed at the 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics. In 1964 he finished ninth as a light heavyweight and in 1968 fifth as a heavyweight.
Joe Cordina is a Welsh-Maltese professional boxer. He is a two-time super-featherweight world champion, having held the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title from April 2023 until May 2024 and previously in 2022. At regional level, he held the British and Commonwealth lightweight titles between 2018 and 2019. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and gold at the 2015 European Championships, both in the lightweight division. He also represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Maurice A. O'Sullivan is a British boxer. As a teenager, he won the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association title before being selected to represent Great Britain at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich.
