Bruce George Cameron ONZM (born 1941/42) is a former weightlifter for New Zealand. He won two bronze medals at British Commonwealth Games representing New Zealand.

Cameron's early sporting career was as a rugby union player, touring Australia with the Junior All Blacks in 1964, but he later took up weightlifting due to injury. [1]

Cameron competed in the 60 kg division in weightlifting at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, finishing eighth. He won the bronze medal at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in the men's 67.5 kg grade. Then four years later at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games he won the bronze medal in the same grade. [2]

He was a New Zealand Olympic team selector from 1977 to 2005. [1]

In 1990, Cameron was awarded the New Zealand 1990 Commemoration Medal. [3] In the 2006 New Year Honours, he was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to sport. [4]

Ekambaram Karunakaran Indian weightlifter

Ekambaram Kaunakaran is a former Indian weightlifter. He was the first Indian to win the gold medal in an international competition in weightlifting. This was in the Commonwealth games in Edmonton, Canada in 1978. Karunakaran's career spanned over a decade. He was conferred with the Arjuna Award in the year 1978-79 by the Government of India.

Talha Talib is a Pakistani weightlifter from Gujranwala. He is the Pakistani national champion in the 62 kg category. He set a new record at the games in snatch as he lifted 132 kg in the third attempt with 127 kg and 130 kg in the first two attempts, respectively. He was also a gold medalist at the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Weightlifting Championships in Penang. He lifted 258 kg to clinch the gold. He is currently the top No. 1 ranked weightlifter of Pakistan.

George Newton was a male weightlifter who competed for England and Great Britain, and then for New Zealand at the end of his career.

Cameron David McTaggart is a New Zealand weightlifter. He won the gold medal in the men's 81 kg event at the 2019 Pacific Games held in Apia, Samoa.
